The ARMSX2 emulator for Android has released its V1.0 on GitHub, with a Play Store launch expected soon. It is open-source and built on a more modern foundation compared to NetherSX2, which currently offers better performance. Users have reported significant bugs affecting gameplay in ARMSX2, and the development team is working to resolve these issues. The emulator's architecture utilizes a recent version of the PCSX2 code, but may experience slower performance due to x86-to-Arm64 translation. Initial tests on devices like the vivo X Fold 5 showed stability problems, prompting the team to prioritize fixes. Future plans include addressing compatibility with Samsung Xclipse and Arm Mali GPUs, updating to the latest PCSX2 core, and improving the user interface. Despite its potential, ARMSX2 is still less robust than NetherSX2 in terms of performance and compatibility.

In early 2023, a Korean developer launched the "Pixel IMS" app, enabling VoLTE and VoWiFi on unsupported carriers for Pixel users. A recent Google update in October 2025 disrupted this functionality by closing a loophole that allowed the app to access the overrideConfig API, resulting in the app crashing when users tried to toggle these features. The overrideConfig API is restricted to apps with the MODIFYPHONESTATE permission, typically reserved for privileged system applications. The Pixel IMS app had previously used Shizuku, an open-source tool, to gain elevated privileges and access the API. Google reclassified the loophole as a high-severity privilege escalation vulnerability but did not include it in the latest security bulletin. The update added a check to the overrideConfig API, blocking access from the shell user. In response, the developer created a workaround that indirectly calls the API through an Instrumentation component, circumventing the restriction. However, this workaround is vulnerable to future patches from Google, which could remove the necessary permissions from the shell app.

Android users are experiencing significant issues with the Instagram app, which is undergoing a severe performance crisis. Users report that the app frequently crashes upon launch, often displaying a "Something went wrong with Instagram" error message. This problem predominantly affects Android devices, and some users believe a recent update to version 15 may have triggered the crashes. Additionally, some users have noticed that their photo grid has disappeared, showing a "no posts yet" message despite content being visible on the web version. Standard troubleshooting methods, such as clearing the cache and reinstalling the app, have not resolved the issues. Instagram has not yet responded to the situation, and users are considering installing older APK files as a temporary solution.

Google has released the Android 16 Beta 3.1 update, focusing on bug fixes rather than new features. This update addresses a crash issue in the Settings app, particularly when the device's language is set to anything other than English, and resolves performance-related problems, including excessive battery drain due to high CPU load and memory leaks in the system server. The update retains enhancements from the previous Android 16 Beta 3 release, such as Auracast support for wireless hearing aids and improved accessibility options. The update is available for enrolled devices and can be checked in the Settings under System > Software Update.
