Windows users are angry, and Microsoft is finally doing something about it

Microsoft is addressing user dissatisfaction with Windows 11 by implementing several changes. These include enhanced taskbar customization, allowing users to reposition the taskbar; a more selective integration of AI features, reducing unnecessary AI entry points in applications; greater control over updates, enabling users to skip or pause updates; performance improvements aimed at reducing sluggishness in File Explorer and enhancing memory efficiency; and increased reliability by focusing on reducing crashes and improving app stability. Additionally, Microsoft plans to enhance various functionalities, including Bluetooth and USB connectivity, printer support, and search functionality, while also making widgets less intrusive.

Enhanced developer tools on the Microsoft Store

The Microsoft Store on Windows is implementing updates based on developer feedback to improve onboarding, publishing, distribution, and analytics. Recent changes include a streamlined onboarding process that reduces the time to create a new developer account by half. Enhancements in developer analytics include upgraded Health Reports with multi-filter support, Anomaly Alerts for unusual app health data, a consolidated Summary Dashboard, and a revamped Usage Dashboard that provides insights on active devices and engagement metrics. Improvements to the Microsoft Store Web Installer include an auto-open feature for Win32 apps and expanded support for enterprise-managed devices. Developers can generate updated badge code for their websites to enhance user trust and installation rates. A new command-line interface allows for app discovery, installation, and updates directly from the terminal, enabling efficient app management. Developer feedback mechanisms have been simplified within Partner Center to encourage ongoing input.

Google releases Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 to fix app crashes on Pixel phones

Google has released a patch called Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 to address app crashes affecting Pixel devices in the Android 16 QPR3 beta. This update focuses on restoring app stability rather than introducing new features. The issues arose after the rollout of Android 16 QPR2, which introduced system-level instability. The patch aims to prevent apps from crashing at startup and is approximately 58 MB in size. It is available to devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program, including the Pixel 6 series and newer, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 8, 9, and 10 lineups. Users can install the update through the standard over-the-air process or manually using OTA images and ADB tools.
