Dead Take is a first-person horror game out to expose ‘the darkest secrets’ of the entertainment industry: ‘I want players to think, I can’t believe they actually did this’

Surgent Studios has announced its next project, a first-person psychological horror game titled Dead Take, following the success of its debut title, Tales of Kenzera: Zau. In Dead Take, players will take on the role of an actor searching for a missing friend at a lavish party in a dark mansion. The game features object-based puzzles and video clips that reveal the mansion's unsettling past. It draws inspiration from classic titles like The 7th Guest and includes intricately designed 3D environments based on real film sets. The original score is composed by Ross Tregenza. The game is set for release in late 2025 and is currently available for wishlisting on Steam.

Microsoft has been working on CorePC for years, but what is it?

Microsoft Tells Nearly All Windows Users—You Must Reboot Your PC

This month's KB5058497 update for Windows 11 24H2 introduces the first 'hotpatch' update, allowing installation without a reboot, but it is only available for Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise users. There is no timeline for extending this feature to Pro and Home users. To use hotpatch updates, users must have a Microsoft subscription that includes Windows 11 Enterprise E3, E5, or F3, Windows 11 Education A3 or A5, or a Windows 365 Enterprise subscription, along with devices running Windows 11 Enterprise version 24H2 (Build 26100.2033 or later), an x64 CPU, Microsoft Intune for deployment management, and Virtualization-based Security (VBS) enabled. Users of Windows 11 24H2 or older versions must reboot their systems to apply new security updates, except for specific patches for Windows Defender, while every third update will still require a reboot. KB5058497 is scheduled to be released between May and June 2025 during the 'no restart' period, and it has been reported to install seamlessly without prompting for a reboot. Users of Windows 11 Home and Pro still face the traditional monthly reboot requirement for updates.

Shuswap resident scammed out of $9,000 by fake antivirus software representative

A resident of Blind Bay lost ,000 in a computer fraud scheme after being persuaded by a caller claiming to represent Norton antivirus. Microsoft Surface PCs with Arm-based AMD chip could arrive in 2026

Microsoft is set to introduce a new line of Surface PCs in 2026 featuring AMD's Arm-based chip, codenamed Sound Wave. Databricks to buy open-source database startup Neon for $1B
