Steam beta gets native Apple Silicon support — the only public Arm version of Steam

Valve has released an update to its Steam Client Beta, optimized for Apple Silicon, eliminating the need for Rosetta 2. This update enhances performance for both the Steam Client and Steam Helper on Apple computers. The transition to a native version is timely as Apple is ending support for Rosetta 2 with the upcoming macOS 27. Valve confirmed that macOS Tahoe will be the last update for Intel Macs. Users can upgrade to the new Steam version (1749753892 or higher) by navigating to Steam > Preferences and selecting the Steam Beta Update option. The update can be verified in the Activity Monitor, where it should indicate Apple in the Kind column.

Arm says Windows game compatibility is up to developers

Arm-powered Windows devices using Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are noted for their sleek designs and long battery life. Additionally, anti-cheat issues affect the Steam Deck, which operates on an AMD processor but lacks native versions of several popular anti-cheat systems. As Arm-based Windows devices gain market share, game developers are expected to prioritize support for these platforms. The integration of Windows and Steam into Arm-based handheld devices could transform the gaming landscape, especially with improved battery life and efficiency.

This realm features supernatural entities, magical crystals, and even computers, including a talking computer called the Statistics and Attributes Virtualization Engine. The game includes characters known as arm daemons that provide advice on attributes. It will be available on platforms like Steam and itch.io.

Dead Take is a first-person horror game out to expose ‘the darkest secrets’ of the entertainment industry: ‘I want players to think, I can’t believe they actually did this’

Surgent Studios has announced its next project, a first-person psychological horror game titled Dead Take, following the success of its debut title, Tales of Kenzera: Zau. In Dead Take, players will take on the role of an actor searching for a missing friend at a lavish party in a dark mansion. The game features object-based puzzles and video clips that reveal the mansion's unsettling past. It draws inspiration from classic titles like The 7th Guest and includes intricately designed 3D environments based on real film sets. The original score is composed by Ross Tregenza. The game is set for release in late 2025 and is currently available for wishlisting on Steam.
