RGB lighting setups may be causing system instabilities on Windows 11, particularly during gaming sessions, as reported by Microsoft. The issue affects PCs running Windows 11 version 25H2 or newer, especially after the August 11 KB5121003 update, and is linked to driver or code components associated with 'inpoutx64'. Users have experienced 'ExceptionAccessViolation' blue screens, which occur when software accesses memory outside its designated boundaries. The problem may be related to anti-cheat technology in various games conflicting with RGB software. Affected titles include Arc Raiders, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and The Finals. Microsoft and game developers are working on solutions and recommend temporarily disabling inpoutx64, which may result in loss of RGB functionality. The issue also affects internal RGB components.

Russia is intensifying its legal pursuit of Nikita Uvarov, a teenager arrested in June 2020 in Kansk for distributing political leaflets targeting the FSB. Uvarov, then 14, was apprehended alongside two peers and has since been referred to as part of the Kansk affair. The Investigative Committee is seeking to impose additional charges based on audio recordings obtained during his incarceration, alleging Uvarov's involvement in an extremist organization, which could extend his sentence by 12 years. He was originally sentenced to five years in prison on terrorism charges, with the FSB using his gameplay in Minecraft as evidence. Uvarov maintained his innocence, stating he was just a kid wanting to socialize. He is expected to be released in March 2026, but the new charges complicate his situation. Microsoft is reducing the functionality of Windows Media Player Legacy in the latest update, Windows 11 Experimental Build 29648.1000, by restricting caption controls. Users can no longer enable captions in the legacy player and are prompted to switch to the modern Media Player instead. This change was first noted by Windows enthusiast Xeno Panther and indicates a deliberate move by Microsoft to encourage users to adopt the newer application. In the previous Experimental Build 26340.9212, captions were still operational, but the latest build has removed options for Off and Defaults, leaving only "On if available." When attempting to activate captions, users receive a message stating that captions cannot be enabled in Windows Media Player Legacy. The modern Media Player does offer enhanced caption customization features, such as font size and color adjustments, but it has been criticized for its performance issues. The modern app takes longer to open videos and consumes significantly more RAM while idle compared to the legacy version. Additionally, the modern Media Player requires users to purchase HEVC Video Extensions to play HEVC files, which the legacy player supports without additional costs. Despite these changes, the Legacy Media Player still retains features like library view and CD burning, and it remains an optional feature in Windows 11. Microsoft has previously removed other functionalities from the legacy player, such as the Sync tab in 2023. As users look for alternatives, third-party open-source media players like VLC and mpv are becoming more popular, with mpv recommended for its performance and minimal interface.

A single Google Keep note has become essential for daily productivity, allowing for a streamlined approach to task management. In a poll, 27% of respondents use Google Keep as their main productivity tool, while 31% use it in a supporting role. The note consolidates all relevant information, reducing digital clutter and enabling easy access across devices. It includes sections for tasks, recurring responsibilities, and personal reminders, facilitating organization without distraction. The user also maintains a separate Undated Tasks section for less urgent items. While Google Keep simplifies workflow, it lacks advanced features, prompting the use of other apps for specific needs.
