Two men flee Oconee theater with Minecraft display, but alert citizen foils escape plan

Two young men, aged 21 and 22, attempted to steal a large cardboard display promoting "A Minecraft Movie" from the University 16 theater in Georgia on April 6. Their plan was interrupted when a bystander photographed their getaway vehicle, an Audi, and alerted the theater's manager. Sheriff’s Cpl. Baer Schiffer reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspects through the vehicle's license plate. The 21-year-old suspect admitted to the theft and he and his accomplice returned the display to the sheriff’s office. No charges have been filed yet, as the theater manager has not decided whether to pursue legal action.

Official Minecraft immersive experience is coming to London, just in time for the movie’s release

Minecraft is set to release a live-action film adaptation in April and will host the Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue in London. This immersive attraction features seven themed ‘biome’ rooms where participants must save villagers from a zombie invasion. The experience utilizes augmented reality technology and includes a handheld device called the “Orb of Interaction” to guide users. It lasts 45 minutes and caters to both Minecraft fans and newcomers. The event opens on April 4th at the Corner Corner venue in Canada Water, London, with tickets priced at £20 for children and £26 for adults, available for purchase starting February 14th at 10 am.

London is getting ‘an immersive Minecraft Experience’ in April

The Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue will launch in London on April 4, coinciding with the release of the Minecraft Movie. It will take place at Corner Corner in Canada Water and offers a 45-minute journey guided by characters Tobin and Dayo, using a handheld device called the Orb of Interaction. Ticket prices start at £20 for children and £24 for adults, with a pre-sale event on February 12 and general sales beginning on February 14. Kayleen Walters from Mojang Studios expressed excitement about the London debut following a successful launch in Dallas, TX. Olivier Goulet from Supply + Demand described the experience as innovative and unique. Additionally, Merlin Entertainments has acquired the global theme park rights to Minecraft.
