The Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) will introduce enhancements to the Start menu and Taskbar, including the removal of the “Copilot” button from the System Tray, replaced by a new web application accessible through Microsoft Edge. The Quick Settings flyout will be scrollable, and a new “Refresh” button will be added to the “Wi-Fi” page. The “VPN” page will allow easier toggling of connections, and users with a Copilot+ PC will gain access to Windows Studio Effects. A “Live Captions” button will be added to Quick Settings, and a new “Recall” button will be available for users with the Windows Recall feature. Keyboard shortcuts will be improved, allowing users to focus on the Taskbar and select apps more easily. A hover card feature for inactive and pinned apps will be introduced. The Start menu will include app promotions from the Microsoft Store, which can be disabled, and users can now drag app icons from the Start menu to the Taskbar. A new floating sidebar will display information from connected Android devices. The update is expected to be available in October, but some features may require new hardware for full functionality.
