Google has introduced the Pixel Journal app, currently available exclusively for the Pixel 10, allowing users to capture thoughts and experiences through text and images while providing AI-driven insights. To set up the app, users search for "Journal" in the app drawer, select a journaling purpose from seven options, and can link it to other Google services. The app features two tabs: Entries, for viewing and searching journal entries, and Insights, which organizes entries chronologically and includes emotional emojis. Users can create new entries using AI-generated prompts or recent pictures, customize appearance, and log fitness data if connected to Health Connect. Privacy is emphasized, with all entries secured and not used for advertising or training AI models. The app uses an on-device service for audio transcription, and AI features are available only in English and Japanese for users aged 18 and older. Users must include a minimum of five words for AI reflections, and the Pixel 10 is powered by the Tensor G5 chip with Gemini AI features.

Windows has been the most widely used operating system globally since its launch in 1985, currently powering over a billion active devices each month. Support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025, meaning Microsoft will stop providing security and feature updates, as well as technical support for Windows 10 PCs. Users can check their eligibility for upgrading to Windows 11 through the Settings menu or the PC Health Check app. Windows 11 features enhanced security, improved performance, and a modern user interface, with built-in accessibility tools and AI capabilities. The Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program will provide critical security updates for personal devices from October 15, 2025, to October 13, 2026. Organizations can subscribe to ESU for continued security updates for a year, with the option to renew annually. Windows 365 offers a cloud-based solution for transitioning to Windows 11 without needing to replace all devices immediately. Various Windows 11 and Copilot+ PCs are available from partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Surface.

Build 27695 from the Windows 11 Insider Canary Channel introduces references to a feature called "intelligent media search," which will allow users to search for spoken words in local audio files and videos using a local AI model. This feature transcribes and indexes media content stored on a Windows PC, enabling seamless searches for spoken words. Users will need to consent to scan their media files, and an AI model will be downloaded and installed in the background for transcription and indexing. The feature's discovery was made by @XenoPanther on X (formerly Twitter). Microsoft has not yet commented on intelligent media search, which is linked to the Recall feature that faced privacy concerns and is set to return to Insider builds in October. Recall requires a Windows Copilot+ compatible PC with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and specific storage capacities, but it is unclear if intelligent media search will have similar requirements.
