Authorized Apps

Google is testing an enhancement to its Pixel Watch Unlock feature that allows users to unlock their Pixel smartphones using their Pixel Watch. This includes a new feature called “Authorized Apps,” which enables users to unlock their phone and navigate to specific sections within apps like Google Messages and WhatsApp with a tap on the watch. The feature aims to reduce friction in task completion and will operate with a select list of Authorized Apps, which users can modify. Currently, this functionality is limited to Google Pixel Watch users with Pixel smartphones (4a or newer), and it is uncertain if it will be available for other Wear OS devices in the future.
