The Original Final Fantasy 7 Gets a New Re-release for PC on Steam

Final Fantasy VII has received a significant update on Steam, introducing several enhancements: a 3x Speed Mode for faster navigation, a Random Encounter Toggle, a Battle Enhancement Mode that maximizes the Limit gauge and restores HP and MP during battles, and an Autosave Feature. This updated version replaces the 2013 edition on the Steam store, which will no longer be available for purchase. Players who previously owned the 2013 edition will receive the new version for free and retain access to the older version, but save files from the 2013 edition are not compatible with the new release. The update aims to align the game with modern console ports and improve upon the earlier Steam edition's performance. Additionally, anticipation grows for the conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy, with Part 2, titled Rebirth, set to launch on Switch 2 and Xbox later this year.

Windows 11 issue shows “Edit in Notepad” for all file types, including .exe and images

Windows 11's File Explorer context menu includes the "Edit in Notepad" option for various file types, which is intended only for plain text files. Users can remove this option by editing the Windows Registry. Notepad now registers as a general-purpose text editor, causing it to appear for all file types, including images. To remove "Edit in Notepad," users can create a subkey in the Registry Editor under Shell Extensions and add the specific GUID. Other Shell Extensions can also be removed using a similar method by adding their respective GUIDs. Microsoft is reportedly working on improvements for the context menu.

Lost Soul Aside is unplayable on Steam Deck and barely playable on ROG Ally

Windows: MS Word now automatically saves to the cloud

Microsoft has introduced an automatic saving feature in Word for Windows that saves newly drafted content directly to OneDrive. Users can disable this autosave feature or choose a different cloud service in the settings. The option to save directly to a local computer or network drive remains available. When closing Word without saving, users will be prompted to either retain their work in the cloud or discard it. This feature is effective immediately for Word for Windows version 2509 (build 19221.20000) and will be extended to Excel and PowerPoint later this year. The automatic saving feature integrates with Microsoft's AI tool, Copilot, for document editing and evaluation. However, there are some bugs affecting the autosave functionality, such as issues when the start screen is disabled or when opening a second instance of Word.
