2025 – A year in recap

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Windows Accessibility team emphasizes their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, guided by the principle of “nothing about us without us.” They collaborate with advisory boards from the disability community to enhance product features. Fluid Dictation on Windows allows users to dictate text seamlessly, correcting grammar and punctuation in real time, and operates offline on Copilot+ PCs. Voice Access has been improved to accommodate diverse communication styles, with features like adjustable wait time, a custom word dictionary, flexible command recognition, enhanced speech pattern recognition, and support for Chinese and Japanese. Narrator and Magnifier now feature human-like voices developed with Azure AI, enhancing the user experience with natural conversation nuances. Recent updates to Narrator in Microsoft Word improve navigation and text drafting, with clearer announcements and concise feedback on spelling and grammar. Additional enhancements include a Screen Curtain for privacy, richer image descriptions, and tools for speech recap and live transcription. 9 new features coming with the October 2025 Security Update for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2

On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will roll out its Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11, introducing various features and security enhancements. Key updates include: 1. AI actions in File Explorer, enabling users to perform tasks like image searches and background removal directly from the file manager. 3. Windows 11 KB5065789 24H2 out with AI in Explorer, direct download links (.msu)

Windows 11 KB5065789 has started rolling out for version 24H2, introducing enhancements such as AI actions in File Explorer and the ability to reposition hardware indicators for volume and brightness. This update is available through Windows Update and as an offline installer (.msu). It is an optional update within the September 2025 update cycle and will not install automatically. Users can expect all features and fixes to be included in the upcoming Windows 11 October 2025 Patch Tuesday on October 7. The update includes: - Build Number: 26100.6725 - Size: 3932.4 MB for x64-based and 3726.2 MB for arm64-based - Installation process took approximately five minutes with a download size of around 1.5GB via Windows Update. New features in Windows 11 Build 26100.6725 include: 1. AI-related features in the Click to Do context menu on Copilot+ PCs. 2. AI Actions for images in File Explorer, including Visual Search with Bing. 3. The ability to reposition on-screen hardware indicators. 4. A revamped “Advanced Settings” page for managing File Explorer features. 5. Improved performance in File Explorer, particularly in loading context menus. Additional enhancements include modernized dialog boxes, improved AI search capabilities, new options for sharing pinned apps, support for Braille Viewer in Narrator, and expanded access to passkey managers. Features may not be immediately available after installation due to a gradual rollout, which could take one to three weeks. There is a known issue with certain legacy Digital TV applications experiencing problems with DRM-protected content, but popular streaming services remain unaffected.

Windows 11 just leveled up again

Microsoft Releases New Builds to All Four Windows Insider Preview Channels

Microsoft has released new Windows 11 builds across all four Windows Insider Preview channels, with version 25H2 debuting in the Release Preview channel. This version can be downloaded as an enablement package, sharing its servicing branch with version 24H2. Users must enroll in the Release Preview channel and check for updates to install it. Windows 11 version 25H2 will not include Windows PowerShell 2.0 or WMIC, and ISOs will be available for download next week. In the Dev channel, build 26220.5770 is being updated with KB5064093, while the Beta channel is receiving build 26120.5770 with KB5064089. New features include a Microsoft 365 text action in Click to Do, Live Persona Cards from Microsoft 365, a Braille viewer in Narrator, and improvements to Windows Share. Various fixes are also included, though there are known issues, such as a recurring audio problem. Additionally, Windows 11 build 27934 has been released to the Canary channel, focusing on general improvements and bug fixes, with several known issues still present.

Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5770 (Beta Channel)

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5770 (KB5064089) has been released to the Beta Channel for users on Windows 11, version 24H2. This update includes new features such as the "Convert to table with Excel" option in Click to Do, allowing users to convert tables into Excel easily. Additionally, Microsoft 365 profile cards can now be accessed within Click to Do by clicking on an email. A new Braille viewer feature in Narrator provides on-screen Braille and text output for users with connected Braille displays. Users can also find apps installed on their PC or available in the Microsoft Store through the "Find Apps" feature in the Windows share window. Various fixes have been implemented, including resolving issues with the taskbar, windowing, display settings, and audio. Known issues include problems with File Explorer and audio devices, particularly with Xbox Controllers via Bluetooth.
