Following the June 2026 update, custom folder icons and localized folder names in Windows are no longer displaying as they typically would due to intentional modifications related to security updates, specifically KB5094126 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. This update tightens the handling of the desktop.ini file, which is used for folder customization. Although access to the actual files remains unchanged, affected folders may revert to default icons or display original directory names instead of customized labels. Microsoft has identified certain sources as untrusted, including files downloaded from the internet and specific remote sources, which affects how desktop.ini files are processed. Users are encouraged to verify file origins, and administrators should ensure that internal sources are classified as trusted to avoid disruptions in folder presentation. The update also includes other security fixes and enhancements.

OnyxC2 is a sophisticated credential stealer available for a subscription fee of 0 per month, distributed through disguised lures such as fake Windows updates and legitimate software installers. It functions as a commercial product with features like an automated payload builder, tiered licensing, and a centralized web dashboard. The malware boasts a 99% detection-evasion rate, successfully evading major antivirus solutions during tests. It is developed in C++, utilizing direct system calls and mutating with each build to avoid detection. OnyxC2 collects data from around 210 applications, targeting 45 web browsers, password managers, cryptocurrency wallets, and FTP clients. The malware is delivered using DLL sideloading, where a password-protected archive contains a legitimate application and a malicious DLL. The attacker's DLL is disguised by inflating its size and is loaded by a trusted binary. The malicious code remains encrypted on disk and decrypts in memory to evade analysis. OnyxC2 communicates with a Cloudflare-fronted command-and-control server to manage infected hosts and execute commands like hardware registration and cookie uploads. The threat extends to business environments, targeting FTP and email clients, with stolen session cookies allowing ongoing access to corporate infrastructure. Implementing anti-data exfiltration controls is recommended as a mitigation strategy.

DMZ is a mode in Call of Duty's Warzone that offers a player-versus-environment (PvE) experience, contrasting with the typical player-versus-player (PvP) focus of extraction shooters. The map Al Mazrah features locked buildings, loot rooms, and dynamic events, promoting exploration. DMZ 2.0 is set to launch alongside Modern Warfare 4, promising enhancements based on player feedback, including a revamped stealth system, dynamic weather effects, vehicle integration, and improved matchmaking for shared objectives. Story missions will become more engaging, and a new "star system" will increase difficulty by attracting tougher enemies as players engage in combat. The developers aim to maintain the core elements of the original DMZ while expanding its features, appealing to both PvE and PvP players. DMZ 2.0 is scheduled for release in October.

ReactOS has successfully executed Valve's original Half-Life on consumer hardware, marking a significant milestone in open-source software development. This achievement was announced on June 10, 2026, after three decades of effort to reimplement Microsoft Windows. The game was run on a Dell OptiPlex desktop with an Intel Core i5 2400 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS graphics card, demonstrating ReactOS's capability to handle real-time 3D applications without compatibility shims. ReactOS operates independently from Microsoft, sharing no code, and can execute a real-time 3D graphics workload natively. It has achieved approximately 90 percent GPU driver compatibility for Windows XP and Server 2003-era hardware through the implementation of the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework and Windows Display Driver Model subsystems. ReactOS is still in alpha stage, with limitations in application support and driver gaps for modern hardware. The project is working towards a new release, version 0.4.16, to enhance user experience.

Microsoft is introducing Windows Ready Print (WRP), a new printing model that aims to modernize the printing experience on Windows by integrating contemporary communication standards like the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and Universal Print. WRP will manage newly installed printing devices by default starting in July 2026, while older printers and OEM drivers will still function on newer Windows releases. The initiative focuses on simplifying printing processes and enhancing reliability, with new options for customization available in Windows printer preferences. Users and administrators can choose to enforce or disable WRP-based print management. Additionally, new policies in Group Policy Editor will allow for the selection or blocking of drivers through WRP. The initiative is supported by the Mopria Alliance to improve security and compatibility in printer management across devices.
