Google has released its October Gemini drop, which includes an enhanced LaTeX rendering for better compatibility with Canvas, allowing users to copy formulas, edit them, and download as PDFs. Canvas has been updated to align more closely with Google Slides, enabling the creation of visually appealing slides. The update also introduces Gemini for Google TV, allowing users to engage in natural conversations about shows and receive personalized recommendations, though it is currently limited to TCL QM9K series devices, with plans to expand to other models later. Additionally, the Veo 3.1 update enhances the video generation model with more realistic textures, improved sound quality, and better narrative control.

Microsoft has enhanced the Windows Studio Effects feature for Windows 11, allowing users to apply AI-powered webcam effects to external cameras, such as USB webcams, in addition to built-in webcams. This functionality can be accessed in the "Advanced camera options" settings. Microsoft has also improved the webcam and microphone pipeline, enabling simultaneous webcam feed sharing across multiple applications. New AI features are being tested, including an "Ask Copilot" button in File Explorer and a "fluid voice" dictation feature that corrects grammar and punctuation in real-time. These features will require a Copilot+ PC and will be rolled out to both Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2.

Users can activate this feature by navigating to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras and enabling "Use Windows Studio Effects" in advanced settings. The update also introduces a refined dictation tool for Copilot+ PCs, offering real-time speech correction. The expansion of Windows Studio Effects is initially rolling out to IntelĀ®-powered Copilot+ PCs, with support for AMD and Snapdragon devices expected soon. Additional updates include improvements to File Explorer and fixes for various issues, while known issues include potential bugchecks during hibernation and audio problems.

The Nothing Phone 3a is set to receive an update that includes support for 4K video, camera enhancements, and a hotspot manager. A key feature being introduced is Privacy Space, which allows users to create a secure profile to conceal apps from scrutiny. Users can access Privacy Space by swiping right in the app drawer and can set distinct passwords for it and the App Locker. This feature was hinted at in March during an APK teardown of the Nothing Launcher.
