PlatinumGames vet Taura founds new studio Eel Game Studio

Takahisa Taura, a former designer at PlatinumGames, has founded Eel Game Studio after leaving PlatinumGames, where he had removed any affiliation from his social media. His departure follows the exit of founder Hideki Kamiya, who has returned to Capcom to lead a new studio named Clovers. Taura is known for his design work on titles such as Nier Automata and Astral Chain.

‘New’ Marvel fighting game coming to PC but it’s not Marvel vs. Capcom

Kabam has announced the upcoming release of a PC port for its mobile game, Marvel Contest of Champions, which will debut on Steam. The game features over 300 characters from the Marvel Comics universe and will offer enhanced HD visuals at 60 frames per second, along with an overhauled user interface for controllers and keyboards. The PC version will support cross-play and cross-progression with the mobile version, allowing players to continue their progress seamlessly. A specific release date has not been announced, but it is expected to be "coming soon."

However, it still trails behind Resident Evil Village, which has sold 11 million units, and both Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake, each surpassing 15 million copies. The remake has received praise for its enhanced combat mechanics, improved script, and engaging gameplay adjustments, including a revamped Ashley section. Capcom is currently offering the game at half-price during a Steam sale, reducing the price to £16.50. A new mainline Resident Evil game is in development, directed by Koshi Nakanishi.

The ever-gorgeous Capcom classic Breath of Fire 4 is back on PC, alongside a little sprucing up

Breath of Fire 4, originally launched on PlayStation 1 in 2000 and released on PC in 2003 in Japan and Europe, has been revived through GOG's preservation program, making it accessible on Windows 10 and 11. GOG has enhanced the game with new display options, upgraded the audio engine, and ensured it is DRM-free. GOG's preservation program has also revived other classic titles such as Ultima Underworld 1+2, Worms: Armageddon, and Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon.

25 Years Later, This Cult-Classic Capcom JRPG Has Been Modernized For PC

Breath of Fire 4 has been re-released by GOG as a new PC port that is DRM-free and optimized for Windows 10 and 11. The game features both English and Japanese localizations and supports modern controllers, including the Sony DualSense. Resident Evil 4 remake hits 10m sales

Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 10 million copies and is the fastest-selling title in the Resident Evil franchise.
