Amazon’s revamped MMO turned ARPG soars on Steam as paid expansion goes free forever

New World has a vibrant community with thousands of daily players on Steam. Despite a significant update and rebranding a year ago, it hasn't reached the iconic status of games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14. Amazon Games has made New World's first paid expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth, free for all players, leading to a notable increase in player activity and achieving a peak player count of 41,000 on October 13, the highest since October 28, 2024. Season 10 introduces new content, including a new zone called Nighthaven, a Catacombs Game Mode, a ten-player raid, and an increase in the level cap to 70 with a gear score of 800. Players who purchased the expansion within the last 30 days will receive a full refund through Steam, and those who did not purchase it can now access it for free.

Cultic, developed by Jasozz Games and published by 3D Realms, has released its second episode on Steam, priced similarly to Episode One. The game features a unique dithered aesthetic and a limited color palette reminiscent of '90s 3D graphics, where players act as a private investigator exploring a cult's mysteries. The gameplay includes a weapon upgrade system and diverse encounters, with dynamic experiences ranging from cultist base clearings to being chased by minibosses. Each episode is priced individually, with Episode Two being significantly larger than Episode One, which offers around seven hours of gameplay. The bundle of both episodes is available on Steam as the "complete edition."

Game review: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC (PC)

Bethesda has released a DLC expansion for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle titled The Order of Giants. This expansion allows players to explore catacombs beneath Rome as Indiana Jones searches for a legendary Crusader helmet belonging to the Nephilim giant, Gibborim, while facing a mysterious cult. The DLC integrates into the main game after completing the Vatican level and offers an additional four to five hours of gameplay, featuring cutscenes, puzzles, and a new boss encounter. It emphasizes exploration and puzzle-solving, with new environments primarily set underground. The expansion utilizes enhanced graphics on PC, achieving a photo-realistic quality. Troy Baker reprises his role as Indiana Jones, delivering a performance that captures the character's essence.

The DLC "Order of the Giants" for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to be released on September 4. It will take players back to Rome, where Indiana Jones will explore the legend of a medieval crusader believed to be buried beneath the city, with connections to biblical giants. The DLC is priced at and is only available through the game's premium edition or as an upgrade from the base game.
