Meta will discontinue its standalone Messenger desktop applications for Windows and Mac on December 15. After this date, users will be redirected to the Facebook website to access Messenger. Users will receive notifications about the transition, and Mac users have a 60-day grace period before the app is fully phased out. Windows users can use the Facebook desktop app or access Messenger via web browsers. Meta advises users to activate secure storage and establish a PIN for their chat history before transitioning to the web version. Users can check their secure storage settings through the Messenger app.
