‘Minecraft’ pop-up event coming to Alton Towers this summer

Merlin Entertainments is enhancing its partnership with Minecraft by launching the 'Minecraft Meet the Mobs' pop-up experience at Alton Towers from July 18 to August 28. This event allows guests to interact with baby mobs in six Minecraft-themed scenes and includes activities like a mob trail for exclusive in-game rewards. Guests can also take photos with characters such as Iron Golem and Creeper, and enjoy themed snacks and merchandise. The experience is included with standard park admission. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with over 350 million copies sold, and is set to become the first-ever theme park land at Chessington World of Adventures in a £50 million project opening in 2027. Merlin's collaboration with Mojang Studios was announced in 2024, with plans to invest over £85 million in new attractions in the UK and US.

Round Up: Minecraft Live (May 2026) – Chaos Cubed, New Biome, Minecraft Dungeons II And More

Mojang announced that the Minecraft update, Chaos Cubed, will be available on June 16, 2026, introducing Sulfur cubes and sulfur caves, along with new block sets and the Bounce music disc. A new biome called the Dappled Forest was teased, and LEGO Chicken Mounts are now available as a free add-on in the Marketplace. Minecraft Dungeons II is set for release in 2026, featuring the Deep Dark biome and the Twisted Warden. The sequel to the Minecraft movie is titled A Minecraft Movie Squared, with Kirsten Dunst cast as Alex, and a building challenge for fans has been announced.

Minecraft Live From TwitchCon Rotterdam Makes Multiple Reveals

Minecraft Dungeons II will feature a new enemy called the Twisted Warden, described as slow-moving but powerful. The game will allow players to explore various biomes and a deep dark portal. It is set to launch later this year on multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Game Pass. Additionally, a collaboration at Twitchcon showcased a Minecraft Arena with real-life representations of biomes and a large Twisted Warden. A LEGO set for Dungeons II was also revealed, featuring LEGO Minecraft Chicken Mounts. Furthermore, a sequel to A Minecraft Movie has been announced, titled A Minecraft Movie Squared, with returning and new voice actors, including Kirsten Dunst as the character Alex.
