Quantic Dream employees have raised concerns about staffing and project viability for Star Wars: Eclipse, following significant layoffs of 115 employees after the cancellation of their live-service game, Spellcaster Chronicles. Remaining staff believe these layoffs threaten the game's future and staged a strike during a LucasFilm visit to seek support. Employees are frustrated with management's lack of communication with parent company NetEase regarding project resources. They plan further protests, called the “Summer Strike Fest,” to advocate for additional staff needed to complete the game.

Subnautica 2 is set to launch into early access on May 14. The game's development has faced turmoil between studio Unknown Worlds and publisher Krafton, including a leadership change at Unknown Worlds and a delay of the early access release to 2026. Krafton previously suggested that releasing the game in 2025 could cause "irreversible harm to the entire franchise," a statement that was later retracted. Subnautica 2 is currently the most wishlisted game on Steam.

A Google survey found that 87% of game developers are integrating generative AI into their workflows. Codex Mortis, developed by Crunchfest3, claims to be "the world's first fully playable game created 100% through AI." The game was created in three months using AI tools, without traditional game engines. It features a bullet heaven genre style and an AI-generated cinematic trailer. Despite its claim, hobby coder David Friedman previously developed Doomscroll, a browser game using ChatGPT, indicating other projects in generative AI game development. Codex Mortis is set to be released on Steam as a potentially paid product.
