Colossal Order is transitioning the development of Cities: Skylines 2 to Iceflake Studios. Before this handover, a new bike patch has been introduced, adding bicycles and electric scooters to the game, along with infrastructure for a bicycle-friendly environment. Players can now create dedicated bicycle paths and lanes, and various types of bike parks have been added for secure parking. The update also includes a new campfire area, business plazas, and new transportation buildings such as a train depot, railway terminus station, cargo transfer station, and three new tram stations. Additionally, two new types of wind turbines and a small cemetery have been introduced. Colossal Order plans to implement Asset Mods before the official transition at the beginning of next year, after which Iceflake Studios will take over development. The reasons for this transfer remain unclear, but Paradox Interactive has a history of reallocating projects among developers.

The latest patch for Civilization 7, update 1.2.5, introduces a new world-generation algorithm with two new map types: 'Continents and Islands' and 'Pangaea and Islands,' with the former as the default. Enhancements to city development menus aim to streamline decision-making without limiting player choices. The update includes significant balance changes, such as the removal of most stacking percentage bonuses for yields, replaced by flat bonuses, and a new cost-progression mechanic for buildings that increases future construction costs. Base production in towns has been reduced, and unit maintenance costs recalibrated. Two new types of city-states—diplomatic and expansionist—have been added, each offering distinct benefits. Napoleon has been overhauled to better reflect his historical significance, with updated abilities for both his personas. The update is now live, with a focus on maintaining backward compatibility for existing saves, though some new features may only be available in new games.

Civilization 7 features bold changes to the series, while Endless Legend 2, developed by Amplitude Studios, offers a return to classic 4X gameplay with five distinct factions at launch. Each faction has unique mechanics, although the total number of factions may lead to repetitive gameplay. The game introduces a map-altering feature called Tidefall, which changes water levels and reveals new paths over time. Hero characters can grow and participate in narrative elements, and the game is visually appealing with a clean menu design. Endless Legend 2 is currently in early access on Steam, priced at .99 / £44.99, and available on PC Game Pass. Future updates are planned, including online multiplayer and additional factions.

Civilization 7 is a 4X turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games, priced at approximately £60. It features a streamlined approach for accessibility and pacing, particularly in multiplayer settings, diverging from the complexity of Civilization 6. The game introduces Age transitions, allowing players to maintain a single leader while evolving through three Ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern, with each transition involving a civilization crisis that leads to selecting a new civilization. New systems are introduced in each Age, such as religion in the Exploration Age and ideologies in the Modern Age. The citizen management system has been replaced with slottable resources, and diplomacy has been simplified, feeling more transactional. The game retains a captivating flow and builds on the art style of Civilization 5, but the simplification of complex systems raises concerns about the depth of the gameplay experience.
