Microsoft’s Project Zenith is a ‘distraction-free Windows experience’ for developers

Microsoft has launched Project Zenith, aimed at enhancing the developer experience on Windows for devices with 64GB or more of unified memory. At the IFA event, AMD introduced the first Project Zenith device, a compact PC powered by Ryzen AI Halo chips. These devices come with a preconfigured Windows setup for development and tools such as Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, PowerToys, WinAppCLI, and Windows Dev Skills. The File Explorer has been optimized for developers, displaying file extensions and hidden files, and unnecessary notifications have been disabled. Project Zenith is a response to developer feedback regarding their needs from Windows.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Limits Start in November: 15 Hours on Ultimate

Microsoft will implement monthly limits on Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in November 2026. Microsoft warns fake CAPTCHA is tricking Windows users into running malware

Microsoft has identified a new malware campaign called TerminalFix that uses fake CAPTCHA prompts to trick Windows users into executing malicious commands. This campaign is a variation of ClickFix attacks and employs deceptive pages that impersonate reputable services like Cloudflare. Instead of traditional CAPTCHA challenges, users are instructed to open PowerShell or Command Prompt and paste in commands, allowing attackers to execute complex scripts more easily. TerminalFix initiates a multi-stage intrusion, granting attackers persistent proxy access to the infected machine, which can lead to further exploitation of the company's network. The campaign relies on social engineering tactics, requiring user compliance with counterfeit verification instructions. Microsoft has released mitigation guidance, recommending restrictions on PowerShell access, monitoring for DLL sideloading, blocking outdated Flash plugins, and enabling cloud-delivered protection in Microsoft Defender Antivirus. Prolific Microsoft 0-day hunter drops CrowdStrike Falcon exploit PoC

Nightmare Eclipse, a security researcher known for identifying vulnerabilities in Microsoft products, has shifted focus to other vendors, revealing a zero-day vulnerability called FalconFlank that targets CrowdStrike’s Falcon endpoint security platform. FalconFlank is a privilege escalation vulnerability that exploits the Microsoft Office malicious macros remediation feature within CrowdStrike Falcon. CrowdStrike is investigating the claims and advises customers to disable the Microsoft Office File Suspicious Macro Removal Windows policy setting while assuring them of continued protection through Cloud Anti-malware settings. The exploit works on fully updated Windows 11 25H2 and Windows Server 2025 systems running CrowdStrike Falcon with Optimal Protection enabled. Nightmare Eclipse has also discovered other vulnerabilities, including HardBreacher affecting Kaspersky’s endpoint antivirus and PrettyPrague in Gen Digital’s Avast antivirus, which allows attackers to dump the SAM database. Gen Digital is developing a patch for the Avast vulnerability, while Kaspersky has not commented. Additionally, Nightmare disclosed a memory corruption zero-day vulnerability in Nvidia, named GreenSection, which causes system crashes.
