Microsoft asks IT admins to reach out for Windows IIS failures fix

Microsoft has informed the business community about a known issue with Message Queuing (MSMQ) affecting enterprise applications and Internet Information Services (IIS) sites. This problem primarily impacts users on Windows 10 22H2, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016 who installed specific security updates (KB5071546, KB5071544, and KB5071543) released in December 2025. Symptoms include inactive MSMQ queues, applications unable to write to queues, IIS sites failing with "insufficient resources" errors, and misleading messages about disk space or memory. The issue stems from changes to the MSMQ security model that altered permissions on the C:WindowsSystem32MSMQstorage folder, requiring MSMQ users to have write access to a directory typically restricted to administrators. Microsoft has not provided a timeline for a fix and suggests affected IT administrators contact their support team for temporary workarounds or consider rolling back the updates.

Microsoft: August security updates break Windows recovery, reset

Microsoft has acknowledged a significant issue with the August 2025 Windows security updates that disrupt reset and recovery operations on devices running Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows 11. The affected platforms include Windows 11 23H2 and 22H2, Windows 10 22H2, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019, and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2019. Users may experience failures when attempting to use the “Reset my PC” feature or remotely reset devices via the RemoteWipe configuration service provider. Microsoft is working on a resolution expected to be released through out-of-band updates. Additionally, Microsoft has implemented fixes for other issues related to Windows update failures and certificate enrollment errors.

Microsoft fixes Windows Server bug causing cluster, VM issues

Microsoft has resolved an issue affecting the Cluster service and virtual machine restarts after the installation of July's Windows Server 2019 security updates. The problem, acknowledged in a private advisory, involved the Cluster service malfunctioning after the KB5062557 update, causing nodes to fail to rejoin clusters and virtual machines to experience multiple restarts. The August 2025 KB5063877 cumulative update has fixed this issue, requiring the prior installation of the KB5005112 servicing stack update. Additionally, Microsoft addressed a WSUS problem affecting the deployment of the August 2025 KB5063878 update on Windows 11 24H2 devices and resolved a DHCP service freeze issue caused by June 2025 security updates in the July 2024 cumulative updates.

Microsoft: Windows Server KB5062557 causes cluster, VM issues

Microsoft has identified an issue with the Cluster service on Windows Server 2019 following the installation of the July security update KB5062557, released on July 8th. This issue causes the Cluster service to repeatedly stop and restart, leading to nodes failing to rejoin the cluster, entering quarantine states, and causing virtual machines to restart multiple times. Administrators using BitLocker on Cluster Shared Volumes may also face additional errors. Microsoft has advised affected organizations to contact their business support teams for assistance while a mitigation strategy is being developed. Additionally, Microsoft is working on a resolution to be included in a future Windows update.
