Chrome for Android finally lets you view PDFs without leaving the browser

Chrome for Android has introduced a native PDF reader that allows users to view and annotate PDF files directly within the browser, eliminating the need for third-party applications. This feature is currently available on Android 15, with availability on earlier versions yet to be confirmed. Users can access various annotation tools, including a pen, highlighter, eraser, undo, redo, and visibility options, and can customize line widths and colors. The built-in search functionality enables users to locate specific text within documents. The feature was hinted at in February of the previous year and became operational in December, initially accessible only through flags for devices running Android 12 and later.

Old Skies review

Wadjet Eye Games will release the adventure game Old Skies on April 23, 2024. The game is set in a futuristic New York City in the 2060s and follows Fia Quinn, a ChronoZen agent who guides wealthy tourists through time manipulation. Fia is chronolocked, remaining unchanged by the timeline's fluctuations, which contrasts with her clients' evolving lives. The gameplay features accessible puzzles that encourage logical thinking, including a scenario where Fia must create a life-saving drug from non-existent ingredients. The game departs from Wadjet Eye's traditional pixel art style, using bold colors and comic book-inspired designs. It features a jazzy score by Thomas Regin and explores themes of love, loss, and human emotion. Fia's character development highlights her struggle for agency in her role, with her experiences portrayed through Sally Beaumont's performance.

Google Photos now lets you spice up your pictures with Ultra HDR glow

Google Photos has introduced the Ultra HDR feature, replacing the previous HDR effect, allowing users to enhance the brightness and vibrancy of their photos. The rollout has begun, with select users already experiencing it, and it is part of version 7.24.0.747539053 found in the “Adjust” tab. When applied, images will have an “Ultra HDR” tag in the metadata, and the Ultra HDR version may take up less storage space than the original image due to a compact gain map. Each Ultra HDR file also includes a standard dynamic range (SDR) version for compatibility with non-HDR displays.

Google is preparing to make Android Settings a bit more colorful
