World Fisheries Day

World Fisheries Day is on November 21, celebrating fishing and promoting ecosystem health. Minecraft has launched fishing packs on its Marketplace, including an add-on that educates players about fish species and ocean pollution, featuring over 90 new fish and marine creatures. From now until January 29, 2026, all net proceeds from this add-on will support Conservation International's conservation efforts. The MobBlocks add-on offers a peaceful fishing experience with 70 new fish, while an advanced add-on introduces 40 new fish with realistic behaviors. The AutoFisher tool allows for easier fishing. Beginning September 26, 2025, Microsoft will contribute 100% of net proceeds from the add-on sales to Conservation International, along with a 0,000 contribution.

Boring always-on displays are history: Android 17 will let apps show controls on your phone’s idle screen

Google is set to launch Android 17, introducing a feature called "Min Mode" that enhances the always-on display by allowing select applications to project functional, minimalist interfaces on the screen without waking the device or draining the battery. This feature will enable users to access live navigation, track workout statistics, and manage music controls while the phone is in sleep mode. Google Maps will be among the first apps to provide simple monochrome directions. Developers can create specialized layouts for a clean aesthetic in low-powered states, and the system will prevent burn-in by shifting pixels periodically. Min Mode will not replace the traditional always-on display but will offer an alternative for a more interactive experience.
