MindsEye, created by a co-founder of the Grand Theft Auto series, has received mostly negative reviews on Steam, with criticisms highlighting a lack of charm. Build a Rocket Boy co-CEO Mark Gerhard suggested that the negative feedback may be due to a conspiracy involving paid bots, while Hakan Abrak, another key figure at the studio, dismissed these claims and emphasized that the game should speak for itself. The game's showcase at the Summer Games Fest failed to captivate audiences, evoking nostalgia for past titles rather than presenting innovation. The studio's other project, Everywhere, is seen as having potential, but the negative reception of MindsEye could impact future endeavors.

Tyler Wilde, the U.S. Editor-in-Chief, experienced the Summer Game Fest and played an upcoming shooter titled MindsEye, which is set to release in 2025. He found the initial two-hour gameplay experience unengaging and reminiscent of early 2010s Call of Duty campaigns. The game's director, Leslie Benzies, previously served as president of Rockstar North. MindsEye is currently available on Steam and has received mixed user reviews, starting with a "mostly negative" reception. Wilde noted the game's concept of mod tools and level editors but expressed skepticism about the quality of user-created missions. The protagonist, Jacob Diaz, has a troubled spec-ops background and a mysterious brain implant, leading him to a chaotic job at a local robot factory in the desert city of Redrock. Wilde criticized the lack of depth in characters and narrative coherence, questioning the game's reliance on dream-like logic and its ability to deliver thought-provoking themes about profit-driven technology.

The Sims 4, developed by Electronic Arts, has maintained its popularity for over ten years, supported by a dedicated fan base and compatibility with modern hardware. The game recently released the Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack in March, allowing players to start their own small businesses. The community has also created numerous fan-made mods, some of which enhance gameplay, while others have sparked controversy, such as a mod aimed at removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) elements. This led to backlash and accusations of censorship when EA requested the mod's removal. Additionally, the conversation about diversity in video games has grown, with criticism directed at Sweet Baby Inc., a consulting firm, for its influence on narrative choices in games like Alan Wake 2 and God of War Ragnarok, resulting in organized boycotts against games associated with the firm.
