Players of GTA Online express frustrations with hackers and hoverbikes, particularly the Pegassi Oppressor Mk II, which disrupts gameplay. Many seek quieter servers or solo play to avoid these issues. In 2020, Rockstar introduced the Cayo Perico heist, allowing players to undertake missions solo for the first time since the game's launch. The game has evolved with complex business ventures and collaborations, but public servers often lead to frustrating experiences due to rogue players. Anticipation for GTA 6 includes expectations for chaotic gameplay and potential 64-player servers, but players desire the freedom to explore without disruptions. Rockstar has not released standalone single-player DLC, and early sales projections for GTA 6 suggest £7.5 billion in revenue within the first two months. The future of single-player story DLC remains uncertain, but many players hope for the option to play online solo.

Retired Microsoft engineer Dave Plummer proposes the introduction of a hardcore mode for Windows to eliminate unnecessary features aimed at less technical users. He emphasizes the need for a system-wide setting that makes the OS more deterministic and less chatty, advocating for centralized settings management to avoid users having to search extensively for configurations. Plummer calls for greater transparency in telemetry, suggesting that users should have clear documentation of data sent on their behalf and the ability to mute specific telemetry categories. He critiques the update process for causing unexpected changes and suggests implementing automatic rollbacks after health checks. Plummer expresses concern about Microsoft's focus on integrating AI capabilities into Windows, fearing it detracts from user education and turns the OS into a sales channel. He also criticizes Windows for recommending Edge after a user selects a different browser and for displaying sponsored applications in the Start Menu. Despite his criticisms, he acknowledges the strengths of Windows, including its kernel, storage stack, and the Windows Subsystem for Linux. Plummer's discontent stems from the additional features that detract from the user experience.

Byterunners, the developer of the Drug Dealer Simulator series, is in a dispute with its publisher, Movie Games, regarding withheld profits from console sales and contractual obligations. Byterunners claims that Movie Games has not paid them profits from the console versions of Drug Dealer Simulator 1 and 2, while Movie Games argues that Byterunners is not entitled to these profits based on their contract. The disagreement intensified after Byterunners alleged that profits were contingent upon compliance with new production plans, which they believe deviated from their original contract. Byterunners has made attempts to resolve the dispute, including a settlement proposal and a formal demand for compensation, but communication has broken down. Additionally, Movie Games fined Byterunners 4.5 million Polish złoty for alleged failures to address bugs in Drug Dealer Simulator 2. Both parties acknowledge that clearer communication could have potentially alleviated tensions, but neither has taken steps to re-establish dialogue since the public statements were made. Legal confrontation appears likely as the situation remains unresolved.

Google is enhancing its Google Docs app on Android with the introduction of the "Help me write" feature, powered by the Gemini AI model. This feature, which has been available on web versions of Docs and Gmail, is currently in development and includes a new toolbar icon for submitting writing requests. Although not fully operational yet, it aims to improve mobile productivity by allowing users to generate and refine text. The feature may also integrate with existing Gemini capabilities like summarization and rephrasing. The rollout faces challenges, including privacy concerns related to data processing and the need for effective language support, with plans for Gemini to be available in over 20 languages by June 2025. Access may require a Workspace or AI premium plan, and a full launch is anticipated by late 2025. This advancement could significantly impact mobile workflows in industries such as journalism and marketing, enhancing collaboration and document creation.

Partitioning in PostgreSQL divides large tables into smaller segments called partitions, improving query performance by enabling partition pruning, which allows the DBMS to scan only relevant partitions. However, local indexes on partitioned tables have limitations, such as inability to enforce global uniqueness and inefficiencies when querying across multiple partitions. Global indexes, introduced in Postgres Pro Enterprise, operate at the partitioned table level, ensuring global uniqueness and improved query performance. They are created for the entire table and include data from all partitions, allowing for faster queries but slower writes due to uniqueness checks. Global indexes do not automatically remove entries for deleted rows and require manual VACUUM to clean up obsolete entries. Current limitations include lack of support for concurrent operations, expressions in index creation, and certain foreign key constraints. Despite these limitations, global indexes can enforce global uniqueness and enhance query performance for non-partitioning keys.
