Transitioning from Windows to Linux can be challenging due to the variety of distributions available. Users often experiment with different options using virtual machines or dual-boot setups. Ubuntu is a popular choice, especially within the Windows Subsystem for Linux and Hyper-V, but Zorin OS is highlighted as a more seamless alternative for users familiar with Windows. Zorin OS provides a desktop experience similar to Windows, making it user-friendly for new Linux users. It allows customization of the taskbar's position, reminiscent of earlier Windows versions. Zorin OS also supports running Windows applications through preconfigured Wine and Bottles, simplifying the process compared to Ubuntu. Zorin OS performs well on older hardware, with its Lite version using the XFCE desktop environment to enhance responsiveness, unlike Ubuntu, which can be sluggish on legacy systems. Zorin Connect enables integration with Android devices, allowing users to sync notifications and control their desktop from mobile devices. Zorin OS is noted for its minimalist approach, optimizing resource usage and avoiding unnecessary applications, particularly in its Lite version. The author currently prefers Zorin OS over Ubuntu Core for its user-friendly design and performance but remains open to exploring other Linux distributions.

UltraHLE enabled players to run commercial Nintendo 64 games at playable frame rates on Windows 9x. The Harbour Masters collective has developed SpaghettiKart, an unofficial PC port of Mario Kart 64, by decompiling and recompiling the original game code for contemporary platforms, including Windows, Linux (Ubuntu 22), and Nintendo Switch. Players must provide their own Mario Kart 64 ROM and use "Spaghettify.exe" to load the game. SpaghettiKart currently supports only the US version and offers three rendering APIs: DirectX 11 for Windows, Metal for macOS, and OpenGL for other platforms. The port allows for custom assets and mods, although it is still in development and may have occasional crashes. Mario Kart 64 is the second-best-selling title for the Nintendo 64, with nearly 9.87 million copies sold globally. SpaghettiKart utilizes Libultraship, a library that reimplements Nintendo 64 SDK functions on modern machines.

Microsoft will cease all support for Windows 10 on October 14, including software and security updates. In response, advocates have launched the End of 10 website to assist users transitioning to Linux, highlighting advantages such as no new hardware costs, enhanced privacy, environmental benefits, community support, and greater user control. The Linux community, including organizations like GNOME and Debian, supports this initiative, emphasizing local community resources for users. Despite its appeal, Linux remains intimidating for many, but distributions like Ubuntu and Pop!_OS aim to create user-friendly environments. Valve's Proton has improved gaming on Linux, allowing users to play thousands of games easily. Linux powers a wide range of devices beyond desktops, and while not every user may switch, the community's efforts are increasing its adoption as an alternative to Windows 10.

4DDiG Data Recovery is a tool designed to recover unsaved Word documents by scanning the AutoRecover folder and other locations. It can recover corrupted, deleted, unsaved, or formatted MS Office files with a high success rate and offers a free trial. Users can preview files before restoration, and the software is compatible with various storage devices and Windows operating systems (7, 8, 10, and 11) without requiring technical skills. To recover an unsaved Word document using 4DDiG, users should install the tool, select the drive where the documents were lost, scan for unsaved documents, preview, and then recover the desired files. Microsoft Word has built-in features for recovering unsaved documents, including the Document Recovery Pane and manual searches for AutoRecover files with ".asd" and backup files with ".wbk" extensions. Temporary files with a ".tmp" extension may also contain unsaved work and can be retrieved from a specific path. To prevent future losses, users are advised to enable AutoRecover and create backup copies in Word's settings. Common recovery questions include the ability to recover unsaved documents depending on AutoRecover settings and the locations of AutoSave files, which vary by operating system. For Windows, common paths include C:Users[Username]AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWord and C:Users[Username]AppDataLocalMicrosoftOfficeUnsavedFiles.

The Anbernic RG557 was released with an update introducing "Anbernic AI," a chatbot on gaming handhelds that provides answers and translations. The author attempted to replicate this using AI chatbots Gemini Gems and ChatGPT GPTs, with the help of NotebookLM. NotebookLM was used to create gaming encyclopedias by uploading strategy guides for retro games, converting CBR or CBZ files to PDF for compatibility. The author found this to be a useful resource for gaming information.
