Star Citizen commits to a “comprehensive wipe” as CIG fights back aginst duping exploits

Star Citizen alpha 4.8 is launching today, featuring a comprehensive wipe that resets all earned aUEC, in-game purchased vehicles, items, resources, reputation progression, and rewards from NPC Wikelo, while allowing players to retain their blueprints and items in the 'My Hangar' section. This decision follows community concerns about duplication tricks and exploits affecting the game. The update introduces Tactical Strike Groups for cooperative gameplay and ship hangar services for repairs, refueling, and rearming. A free fly event will occur from May 14 to May 27 to celebrate the launch.

Absent a Left 4 Dead 3, modders are turning Team Fortress 2 into COD Zombies instead

Mann Versus Zombies is a total-conversion mod for Team Fortress 2 developed by Breadworks, transforming the game into a horde survival experience similar to Call of Duty Zombies. When is the next PUBG update?

PUBG has a two-month update schedule, with the next significant update planned for June 2026. The recent 41.1 patch released in April 2026 introduced a new game mode called Xeno Point, two new attachments (Hybrid Scope and Tilted Grip), and a new Emergency Support Flare. The Jammer Pack received enhancements with level one and three variants, the latter available only in care packages. NVIDIA Neural Texture Compression: AI-powered compression aims to alleviate VRAM pressure in PC games

NVIDIA's Neural Texture Compression (NTC) improves memory efficiency in PC gaming by using small neural networks to compress texture data, achieving up to eight times better memory efficiency compared to traditional methods. In a technical demo, NTC reduced a scene's VRAM requirement from 6.5 GB to approximately 970 MB, an 85 percent reduction. The RTX Neural Texture Compression SDK has seen enhancements, including a 20 to 40 percent increase in inference speed. NTC is compatible with RTX hardware and Tensor Cores, but its real-world performance impact is yet to be determined. Open-source developer "Hailey" has introduced the Windows 9x Subsystem for Linux (WSL9X), which allows users to run both Windows and Linux applications simultaneously on classic versions of Windows, including Windows 95, 98, and Me. WSL9X operates by running a modern Linux kernel (6.19) alongside the Windows 9x kernel, enabling features such as paging, memory protection, and pre-emptive scheduling. It is neither emulation nor virtualization and does not require hardware virtualization. WSL9X is available for download, but users must build it from the source provided by Hailey. It allows access to a genuine Linux terminal alongside classic Windows applications, enabling various tasks without compromising system stability.
