Microsoft reports that the Arm app ecosystem is thriving, with native Arm versions available for apps representing 90% of total user minutes. This indicates a shift towards native builds rather than relying on x86-to-Arm translation. As Windows 10 nears its end-of-life on October 14, 2025, Microsoft encourages users to transition to Arm-based Copilot+ AI PCs, highlighting various optimized applications for Windows 11 on Arm, including endpoint protection, VPN, endpoint management, productivity, and entertainment applications. Although the current selection of Windows-on-Arm laptops is limited, upcoming announcements from Qualcomm and NVIDIA are expected to increase the availability of Arm-based Windows PCs.

Dell and Intel are promoting the upgrade of PC fleets from Windows 10 to Windows 11 as a strategic opportunity for businesses to prepare for artificial intelligence (AI). Their "Windows 11 & AI PC Readiness Report" suggests that this is an ideal time for organizations to improve productivity, collaboration, and security with AI-ready PCs. A survey indicated that 80 percent of UK businesses plan to transition to Windows 11 by October 14, when support for Windows 10 ends. However, there are concerns about software and hardware compatibility, as well as the high costs associated with AI PCs, which may deter buyers. The report shows that 62 percent of IT decision-makers prefer Copilot+ AI PCs, while 64 percent believe it is critical to acquire new PCs capable of running AI applications. Despite claims of enhanced productivity with AI PCs, a study found that employees using such systems were less productive than those with traditional hardware.

Microsoft has postponed the launch of its AI-driven Windows Recall feature, which was initially set for rollout to Insiders with Copilot+ PCs in October. The delay is due to customer feedback requesting improved data privacy and security measures. The feature is now expected to be available for preview by December. Recall captures screenshots of active windows at regular intervals and uses an AI model to analyze these images, storing the data in an SQLite database. Windows 11 users will be able to search this information using natural language queries. Users will need to opt-in to enable Recall and confirm their presence through Windows Hello. Recall can be uninstalled, filters out sensitive content, and allows users to exclude specific applications or browsing sessions. It will also include malware protection features.

Microsoft's Recall feature for Copilot+ AI PCs was designed to help users locate past activities but faced backlash over security concerns related to constant screenshotting of user activity. In response, Microsoft delayed the rollout for Windows Insider beta testers and announced enhanced security measures, making Recall an opt-in feature by default and integrating Windows Hello biometric authentication. The feature will utilize encryption and VBS Enclaves to protect data, and users can opt to remove Recall entirely. Additional protective measures include rate-limiting and anti-hammering strategies, with a fallback PIN method after configuration. Recall will not retain private browsing data by default and will filter sensitive content. Microsoft has engaged a third-party vendor for penetration testing and security design review, while the Microsoft Offensive Research and Security Engineering team has been testing the feature.

Microsoft has changed its plans for the release of the Recall feature on Copilot+ AI PCs due to concerns over security and privacy. The feature will now be restricted to members of the Windows Insider program for additional feedback and to ensure a high-quality and secure experience. Microsoft is emphasizing that Recall is a preview version and users will have the option to disable it if they choose not to use it. The company's decision to make Recall optional reflects its commitment to improving user confidence in AI and Windows.
