Microsoft is rolling out enhancements for Copilot+ PCs, including the Recall feature and a revamped Search function that understands contextual meanings for a more intuitive experience. The new "Click to Do" feature allows users to copy text from images, search on-screen content, and summarize or rewrite text by pressing the Windows key and clicking. To use Copilot+, PCs must have specific hardware requirements, including a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of over 40 trillion operations per second. Supported processors for Copilot+ include Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and Plus chips, Intel's Core Ultra 200V-series laptop chips, and AMD's Ryzen AI 300 series. The Recall feature and enhanced Search are available for both Arm and x86 PCs, while some Click to Do features are exclusive to Arm systems.

Windows 11 Preview Build 26120.3872 (Beta Channel) introduces advancements in Copilot+ PC functionalities and addresses issues with the OneDrive syncing app. Users can register for updates and access the Insider Preview by activating the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option. Notable enhancements include the ability to add custom words to the dictionary through voice commands and an improved guided tour for Voice Access. Additional updates allow users to disable cloud content searches, gain control over widget notifications, and fix Start menu crashes. Not all Copilot+ PCs will receive these updates immediately, with a focus on Snapdragon X Elite devices, though features will eventually be available for AMD and Intel-powered devices. The new accessibility features are available to all users immediately.

Microsoft has begun rolling out the Recall feature in Insider build version 26100.3902 after addressing previous security vulnerabilities. The Recall feature uses Neural Processing Units (NPUs) in Copilot+ PCs to capture screenshots and convert them into natural language descriptions for improved productivity. The new build also introduces the Click to Do feature for Snapdragon-powered PCs, enhances Phone Link functionality for easier content sharing, and includes the Windows Share feature for quick image edits before sharing. The rollout of these features will be gradual.

Microsoft has expanded the Windows Recall preview to include a wider range of Copilot+ PCs, allowing users of Intel and AMD processors to access advanced features such as Recall, Click To Do, and Image Generation. Previously, only Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs had access to these features. Click To Do enables users to analyze content on their screens by pressing the Windows key and clicking the mouse, similar to Google’s Circle Search. Some advanced capabilities of Click To Do remain exclusive to Snapdragon X PCs. Intelligent text generation is currently available only on Arm architecture, but Intel and AMD users will gain access soon. The rollout of these features beyond the Insider Program is expected as early as early 2025, with February or March being likely timeframes.

Surface introduced the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 in March, featuring Intel Core Ultra processors and anti-reflective screens. Microsoft later announced the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 with Qualcomm Snapdragon X SoCs. New iterations of the Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, and Surface Laptop Studio are expected, including a Surface Laptop with an Intel Lunar Lake processor and a potential new 11-inch device powered by a Snapdragon X Plus SoC. The upcoming Surface devices may include features like a card reader and 5G connectivity. Copilot+ features are anticipated to extend to the Surface Laptop Studio, requiring a neural processing unit (NPU) with 40+ TOPS. A new Surface Dock is also expected, with details yet to be revealed. The new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are likely to launch in the first quarter of 2025, with additional products potentially released from spring to fall.

Microsoft has introduced two Copilot+ features, Recall and Click to Do, for compatible Intel and AMD PCs, which were previously available only on select Arm-based laptops. Microsoft Recall captures user activity by taking screenshots at regular intervals, allowing AI to help users retrieve information like recipes and past conversations. This feature has raised privacy and data security concerns. Click to Do allows users to perform common tasks directly from screenshots, such as copying text or editing images. To use these features, users need a compatible processor with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), specifically Intel's Lunar Lake (Core Ultra 200V series) or AMD's Ryzen AI 300 CPUs. The rollout of these features is selective, and other applications leveraging the local NPU are currently unavailable. Users interested in trying Microsoft Recall and Click to Do must join the Windows Insiders program and install Build 26120.2510 from the Dev Channel, with the understanding that they may encounter bugs or incomplete functionalities.
