Microsoft is expanding its Recall AI feature to Copilot Plus PCs powered by Intel and AMD, following its initial rollout on Qualcomm-powered laptops. Recall captures screenshots of activities on a Copilot Plus PC, allowing users to search past work through natural language or a timeline. Users can enable snapshots and manage saved or deleted snapshots, with options to exclude specific apps and ensure sensitive information is not captured. Access to snapshots requires Windows Hello for identity verification, and BitLocker and Secure Boot must be enabled. Microsoft is also testing the Click to Do feature, which recognizes text and images in Recall snapshots for AI-driven actions. Additionally, Image Creator and Restyle Image features are being rolled out in the Photos app for Intel- and AMD-powered Copilot Plus PCs, along with Cocreator in Paint for generating AI-assisted images.

Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel are receiving a preview of the Recall AI feature for Copilot Plus PCs, which includes functionalities like Recall and Click to Do. Recall captures snapshots of user activities, allowing for easy retrieval through natural language queries and a scrollable timeline. It is an optional feature requiring user consent, initially available only on Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs, with plans to support Intel and AMD systems later. Users can control their snapshots, including deleting them and excluding specific apps from recording, while sensitive information is automatically protected. Microsoft assures that no snapshots are sent to the cloud or used for AI training, emphasizing user privacy and security. The Click to Do feature allows users to perform actions with text and images from captured snapshots and will eventually enable broader interactions with screen content. Recall's introduction was delayed due to security concerns, but Microsoft has enhanced its security framework, allowing users to opt-in or uninstall the feature.

Microsoft will expand its Windows AI features, specifically the Copilot Plus, to select AMD and Intel laptops starting in November. Previously exclusive to Qualcomm-powered devices, these features will now be available on new laptops equipped with AMD's and Intel's latest processors. AMD has already launched compatible laptops, while Intel is introducing the Core Ultra 200V processors, codenamed Lunar Lake, which will also support Copilot Plus features. Devices running these processors and the latest version of Windows will receive a complimentary update in November. Key features of Copilot Plus include Auto Super Resolution, NPU Utilization, Image Cocreate Features, Improved Windows Studio Effects, and Accelerated App Performance. Microsoft is also planning to integrate Recall AI features into Copilot Plus PCs, with a targeted release for Windows Insider testers in October.

Microsoft has acknowledged a bug in its Recall AI feature that allows users to uninstall it from Windows, which was not intended. The company is working on a fix to remove this uninstall option from the Control Panel. While no specific timeline for the fix has been provided, it will be included in an upcoming update. The Recall AI feature will remain mandatory for Copilot+ PCs, with a preview set to launch for Windows Insiders in October. Recall AI is designed to track user activities but has faced backlash over privacy concerns, leading to a delay in its initial release. Microsoft aims to address these issues in the upcoming launch.

Quick Share for Windows is a file-sharing solution that integrates well with Android devices and is available on most Android devices. Installation on x64 Windows PCs is straightforward, but ARM-based Copilot Plus PCs face challenges as they are not officially supported by Google. Users have found a workaround by manually copying the Quick Share app's files from a functioning installation on another Windows PC to the ARM device, allowing for successful implementation. Once operational, Quick Share performs well, enabling swift file transfers over Wi-Fi. The installation requires administrative rights, and users can create shortcuts and configure the app to launch at startup for better usability. An official update from Google is needed for improved accessibility on ARM devices, while alternatives like Microsoft’s Phone Link are also considered by users.
