The trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard featured a prompt to pre-order the game and receive the Blood Dragon cosmetic armor, which has been a controversial design among fans. The Blood Dragon Armor, originally a repurposed dwarven heavy armor model, has appeared in four different games and has often been compared unfavorably to other designs. Its distinctive pearlescent white finish with a neon red dragon and glowing red eye slits has drawn criticism for its aesthetic. In the Mass Effect universe, the armor was redesigned but still faced criticism for its color palette. The new iteration in The Veilguard is described as cosmetic, suggesting it may not disrupt game balance as it did in previous titles. Despite its questionable design, the armor evokes nostalgia for some players, reflecting on the monetization strategies of the past.
