Google Photos has introduced a new feature called "Video Remix," which allows users to enhance their videos by adjusting lighting, applying different themes, and exploring various styles. This feature builds on the Remix option that was first introduced in 2025 for transforming photos. The rollout of Video Remix was announced on July 8 and utilizes Google's Gemini Omni model to facilitate user editing prompts. It also includes quick sharing functionality for spontaneous creativity. Previously, the Remix feature was limited to images, enabling users to transform photos into themed scenes. Additionally, the feature has been integrated into Google TV, allowing users to create dynamic slideshows from their stored photos.

Google has introduced "video creation templates" in the Photos app, allowing users to create Highlight videos with pre-made formats that include music, text, and beat-matching. Users can choose to let AI select content from their camera roll or manually curate their videos. The process involves navigating to Google Photos > Create > Highlight Video, where users can select templates and edit their videos by changing music tracks, reordering clips, or removing elements. The update is rolling out on Android devices. Additionally, YouTube Shorts has launched its own version of templates to assist content creators in incorporating trending music and sound clips.

Google Photos is set to introduce a new "Create" tab that will consolidate various creative tools, including Collage, Highlight Video, Cinematic Photo, and Animation, into one location. This tab will also feature two new AI-driven tools: "Photo to Video" and "Remix." Currently, users access these tools through a + menu, but this may change once the Create tab is launched. The Album option will not be included in the new tab. The feature is still under development, and further changes may occur before its release.
