Microsoft has improved the integration between Galaxy smartphones and Windows operating systems, allowing users to view files from Galaxy devices directly within the File Manager app on Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers. This feature requires the latest version of the Cross Device Experience Host app and a connection via Bluetooth on the same local network. Users can perform various file management tasks such as cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, renaming, and moving files without needing USB connections.

Windows is enhancing its Phone Link feature to allow users to view and edit files from Android phones directly within Windows File Explorer. This integration requires users to connect their Android devices using the Link to Windows app. The feature will be automatically deployed for Windows 10 and 11 users, with an update to the Cross Device Experience Host app needed from the Microsoft Store. Users will see their phones listed in the sidebar, providing easy access to files similar to local directories.

Microsoft's Phone Link has introduced the "Android in File Explorer" integration for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users, allowing access to Android phone storage directly in File Explorer. This feature began rolling out in October and is part of the "Manage mobile devices" initiative. Users will see their Android phone storage appear automatically in File Explorer, which operates server-side. The integration allows users to access documents, pictures, and files from their Android devices wirelessly, mimicking traditional USB access. Users can rename, copy, delete, and move files, with deleted files going to a new Recycle Bin on the phone for 30 days. To use this feature, users need Android 11 or later, Link to Windows version 1.24071 or newer, and an updated Cross Device Experience Host. The Phone Link app is not required for this integration to function.
