14 tons of Steam Controllers appear to have just arrived in the US, hinting at imminent release date

A shipping manifest leak indicates that a significant delivery of "WIRELESS PC CONTROLLER[s]" has arrived in the U.S. for Valve, weighing 12,970 kg (28,594 lbs) and comprising 40 packages. Estimates suggest there could be over 40,000 units in transit, although it is uncertain if all are the latest Steam Controller. The shipment originated from Taiwan, hinting at the manufacturing location. The new Steam Controller features a dual-stick configuration, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, gyro input, and high-definition rumble. It follows the original Steam Controller, which sold over 1.5 million units before its discontinuation in 2019.

Improving your Windows Insider experience

The Windows Insider Program is undergoing changes to improve user experience based on feedback from the community. The channel structure will be simplified into two main options: Experimental and Beta. The Experimental channel will provide early access to features under development, while the Beta channel will showcase features planned for near-term release without gradual rollouts. Users will have the option to select specific Windows core versions and enable or disable features through a new Feature flags page. Additionally, transitioning between channels will now allow for in-place upgrades, preserving apps and settings, except when moving from Experimental Future Platforms. All Insiders will be transitioned to either the new Beta or Experimental channel, with specific transitions outlined for current users in the Beta, Dev, and Canary channels. Commercial customers will see similar changes, while those in the Windows Server Insider Program will not experience alterations.

Windows Zero-Day Published on Github as Microsoft Fails to Act

A security researcher named Chaotic Eclipse published a working exploit for a Windows zero-day vulnerability, called BlueHammer, on GitHub on April 2. The exploit allows attackers to gain SYSTEM-level privileges by exploiting a race condition in Windows Defender’s signature update mechanism. The exploit has gained significant attention, with over 100 forks and nearly 300 stars on GitHub. Will Dormann, a principal vulnerability analyst, confirmed that while BlueHammer is functional, it may not always operate reliably. Microsoft has not issued a patch for this vulnerability. The exploit targets the Windows Defender signature update process, allowing low-privilege attackers to manipulate a file path during operation, leading to access to the Security Account Manager (SAM) database. Currently, only 8 out of 72 cybersecurity vendors on VirusTotal flag the exploit file as malicious, which raises concerns about detection coverage. Microsoft reiterated its commitment to coordinated vulnerability disclosure but did not address the communication issues regarding the BlueHammer report.

Samsung To Shut Down Messaging App July, Announces Alternative

Samsung is discontinuing its native messaging app, "Samsung Messages," on July 6, 2026, and is encouraging users to switch to Google Messages. BlueHammer: Windows zero-day exploit leaked

A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit called BlueHammer has been released on GitHub, targeting an unpatched local privilege escalation vulnerability in Windows. The exploit, attributed to users Chaotic Eclipse and Nightmare Eclipse, has been modified by security researchers to work on updated versions of Windows 10, 11, and Windows Server. The exploit manipulates Microsoft Defender to create a Volume Shadow Copy, allowing access to sensitive registry files and enabling the extraction of NTLM password hashes. This facilitates the alteration of a local Administrator's password and subsequent login. The exploit can duplicate the Administrator's security token and create a malicious Windows Service that runs with SYSTEM privileges. While there are no reports of BlueHammer being exploited by malicious actors, researchers warn that such PoC code can be weaponized quickly. Microsoft has committed to investigating reported security issues related to this vulnerability.

PostgreSQL logical replication: How to replicate only the data that you need

Many organizations using PostgreSQL face challenges in replicating data across different logical databases while controlling shared information. Logical replication operates on a publish-subscribe model, where the source database logs changes to the Write-Ahead Log (WAL) and applies publication filters to transmit only the relevant data to the target database. Two filtering modes are available: column-level filtering allows users to specify which columns to replicate, while row-level filtering uses WHERE clauses to determine which rows to include. Both filtering modes can be combined in a single publication. The SQL syntax for creating publications and subscriptions is consistent across various PostgreSQL environments, with specific configurations required for enabling logical replication. Use cases for logical replication include multi-tenant SaaS data isolation, regional data distribution for ecommerce, PCI DSS compliance in financial services, development and testing environments, and retail inventory management. Prerequisites for implementing logical replication include using PostgreSQL 15 or later, ensuring network connectivity, having a user with replication privileges, enabling logical replication on the source instance, and monitoring WAL retention. Logical replication has limitations, such as the need for a replica identity for UPDATE and DELETE operations, the non-replication of DDL changes and sequences, and potential performance overhead during initial synchronization and ongoing replication. After testing, it is advisable to clean up by removing replication resources to prevent unnecessary costs.
