This developer squeezed a full Minecraft server onto an ESP32, and it actually works

A developer named angelthebox has created a Minecraft server called Macerun that runs on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, using Minecraft version 1.16.5 rewritten in C. Key features include the ability for players to join the server, explore the world, place and break blocks, procedural world chunk generation, basic crafting mechanics with 2x2 recipes, in-game chat, and tracking of basic physics, health, and hunger. Changes to blocks are saved to the chip's flash memory. However, the server lacks mobs, 3x3 crafting recipes, and the ability to retain player inventories and positions after exiting. One of the Best Legend of Zelda Games Is Getting a PC Port

A dedicated development team, linifadomra, is working on a PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess titled "Courage Reborn." They recently showcased a playable version of the Ordon Village section, demonstrating that the game is designed to run at a native 60 frames per second. The demo features functioning core systems, including NPC interactions, combat mechanics, and horseback riding. The game will support keyboard and mouse setups as well as controller configurations, and will be compatible with PC, Mac, and Linux platforms. The main menu will offer new graphical options for customization. The project has been in development since 2025, and while significant progress has been made, it remains incomplete, with no release date announced. Players will need a ROM of the original GameCube version to run the PC port.

Windows Zero-Day Published on Github as Microsoft Fails to Act

A security researcher named Chaotic Eclipse published a working exploit for a Windows zero-day vulnerability, called BlueHammer, on GitHub on April 2. The exploit allows attackers to gain SYSTEM-level privileges by exploiting a race condition in Windows Defender’s signature update mechanism. The exploit has gained significant attention, with over 100 forks and nearly 300 stars on GitHub. Will Dormann, a principal vulnerability analyst, confirmed that while BlueHammer is functional, it may not always operate reliably. Microsoft has not issued a patch for this vulnerability. The exploit targets the Windows Defender signature update process, allowing low-privilege attackers to manipulate a file path during operation, leading to access to the Security Account Manager (SAM) database. Currently, only 8 out of 72 cybersecurity vendors on VirusTotal flag the exploit file as malicious, which raises concerns about detection coverage. Microsoft reiterated its commitment to coordinated vulnerability disclosure but did not address the communication issues regarding the BlueHammer report.

Grand Theft Auto V reached up to 100 FPS indoors and over 60 FPS in the open world.

Microsoft teases Windows 11’s vertical taskbar — then deletes the video

Users will soon be able to reposition the taskbar along any edge of their screen in Windows 11, a feature similar to macOS. This functionality was hinted at in Microsoft's roadmap and briefly showcased in a now-removed video. The taskbar can currently be moved by dragging, but the new feature aims to refine this process. Microsoft has not confirmed if the right-click method demonstrated will be the final implementation, as the finalized version is expected to integrate with the Settings app. Additionally, users will have the option to resize the taskbar, which currently cannot be adjusted in physical dimensions. Microsoft executives have also discussed upcoming features like dark mode and updates to legacy UI elements.

Researchers Reveal ‘RegPwn,’ a Windows Registry Vulnerability That Granted SYSTEM Privileges

A Windows vulnerability named "RegPwn" (CVE-2026-24291) allows low-privileged users to elevate their access to full SYSTEM privileges. Discovered by the MDSec red team, it has been in use since January 2025 and was addressed in a recent Microsoft Patch Tuesday update. The vulnerability exploits the management of Windows accessibility features, which generate a registry key that grants full control to low-privileged users. When a user activates an accessibility tool, the configurations are copied into the local machine registry hive, which remains writable by the logged-in user. This creates an opportunity for manipulation, especially when user-controlled settings interact with the Windows Secure Desktop environment. An attacker can exploit this by modifying their user-level accessibility registry key and using an oplock on a system file, allowing them to replace the local machine registry key with a symbolic link to an arbitrary system registry key. This process operates under SYSTEM privileges, enabling the attacker to write arbitrary values to restricted areas of the Windows registry. MDSec demonstrated this technique to gain access to a SYSTEM-level command prompt. Microsoft has released security updates to address this vulnerability, and MDSec has made the exploit code available on GitHub for research purposes.
