Diablo 2 is coming back with its first expansion in 25 years, featuring a new class, and finally, decent inventory management

Blizzard Entertainment announced a second expansion for Diablo 2, titled Reign of the Warlock, during the Diablo 30th anniversary Spotlight video. The last expansion, Lord of Destruction, was released 25 years ago. The new expansion introduces a warlock class that allows players to summon three different demons and bind one enemy demon for powerful buffs. Quality-of-life improvements include stash tabs that allow item stacking, unique tabs for specific categories, loot filters for item visibility, and a comprehensive item collection list. Diablo 2: Reign of the Warlock is now available on Battle.net.

Unreal Engine 5.7 Venice Next-Gen Tech Demo Released

Scans Factory has released a tech demo using Unreal Engine 5.7, featuring the city of Venice, which is available for download. The demo includes over 500 assets, allowing players to explore various aspects of Venetian life. Performance testing on a high-end gaming rig showed 40FPS at Native 4K resolution with Cinematic Settings, and over 65FPS at Ultra settings. A walkthrough video and performance comparison between UE5.4 and UE5.7 are also provided. Additionally, various free fan-made projects in Unreal Engine 5 include remakes of popular games and other tech demos.

The next Project Diablo 2 update dramatically expands the ARPG’s ranged combat with an idea Blizzard never tried

Blizzard has shifted its focus to Diablo 4, leaving Diablo 2 with minimal updates. Project Diablo 2 Season 12 is a fan-driven initiative that revitalizes Diablo 2 with regular updates, including new items, unique runewords, and balance adjustments. The upcoming season will introduce new ammunition types for bows and crossbows, such as Crude Arrows and Light Bolts, each with implicit enhancements. Twelve unique options for these weapons have been created, including 'Tombsong' arrows and 'Frozen Sorrow' bolts. Other changes include a reworked Blizzard spell, increased map drops from corrupted zones, and faster item retrieval features. The launch date for the new season will be announced during a developer stream on November 8. Players must own a legitimate copy of Diablo 2 and its Lord of Destruction expansion to participate.
