The Game Awards recently showcased trailers for several games, including Diablo 4, which features a new Paladin class and a trailer titled Lord of Hatred. Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is currently available for free on the Epic Games Store as part of a holiday promotion, which ends on December 19 at 8 am PST. The game includes a new update, The Fall of Alfheim, introducing new level modifiers and the Arachnid Jotunn, along with a new deity called The Earthmother and the Archmage class with four subclasses. Jotunnslayer has a rating of 85% on Steam.

Blizzard has to put aside Diablo 4’s “super high” expectations to move forward, series creator David Brevik says

David Brevik, co-creator of the Diablo series, has significantly influenced the action-RPG genre through his work on Diablo and Diablo 2. After leaving Blizzard in 2003, he worked on various projects and founded Skystone Games in 2020. Brevik enjoys Diablo 4 but feels it is currently stagnant, with seasonal updates lacking innovation. He noted that Blizzard's strategy for Diablo 4 has shifted to downloadable content, with the first yearly expansion postponed until 2026. Brevik highlighted the challenges of game development for larger studios and the rise of new studios led by experienced developers. He observed that much innovation in gaming is now coming from smaller studios, with examples like roguelikes drawing inspiration from Diablo. Brevik also discussed the balance between preserving the original experience of games like Diablo 2 and introducing changes, expressing appreciation for Blizzard's respectful treatment of the remaster.
