Slimefun is a server-side plugin for Minecraft that enhances the vanilla experience by adding new items, machines, and crafting possibilities without requiring client-side modifications. It allows players to create automated farms, develop tools, and build factories, encouraging experimentation and strategic planning through a complex crafting system. The plugin's modular design enables server administrators to customize it for different player preferences. There are rumors of item duplication glitches associated with Slimefun, with players claiming to find methods to multiply items. Historically, some legitimate glitches have existed, but developers actively patch these exploits. Engaging in item duplication is frowned upon as it disrupts the game’s economy, creates unfair advantages, and can lead to penalties such as temporary suspensions or permanent bans. Duplication undermines the integrity of gameplay, leading to disillusionment among honest players and potential technical issues on servers. Legitimate methods for duplicating items in Slimefun are largely nonexistent, as the plugin aims to maintain a balanced experience. Players are encouraged to build efficient farms and explore the game world for resource gathering, focusing on creativity and collaboration rather than unethical duplication methods.

Heartopia is a life-simulation game that blends cozy simulation elements with MMO features, allowing players to cultivate a town and interact with locals. However, the MMO aspects dilute the individuality typically found in cozy games, as multiple players receive the same accolades for completing quests. Gameplay involves repetitive fetch quests to unlock activities like home decoration and fishing, which can feel tedious. The game features a community aspect, but players may find their neighbors' homes replaced or their own home relocated between sessions, undermining familiarity. Character design is uninspired, and the user interface resembles a mobile game, lacking polish. As a free-to-play title, it includes multiple currencies that create confusion, with microtransactions for premium items. Despite these issues, the game offers engaging home-building mechanics and unique hobbies like Birdwatching and Pet Care. Overall, Heartopia struggles to effectively merge MMO elements with cozy simulation, making it a less appealing option compared to established titles like Animal Crossing.

The author first played Minecraft in 2010 and was captivated by its charm, comparing it to a digital Lego set. Over time, they drifted away from the game due to burnout and political controversies surrounding its creator, Markus “Notch” Persson. The author visited Mojang in March 2011 when Minecraft had sold over a million copies, a figure that has since grown to over 350 million. Persson's demeanor changed after the game's acquisition by Microsoft for .5 billion in 2014 and the emergence of GamerGate, leading to the author's negative feelings towards the game. The Donut SMP server, created by YouTuber DrDonut, peaked at nearly 46,000 players in a single day and features an in-game economy where players can buy and sell resources. The author's son initially sought a Minecraft Realm for his classmates but later requested to join the Donut SMP server after tensions arose in the Realm. The author, initially hesitant, found common ground with their son on the server, leading to collaborative gameplay that involved resource gathering and crafting. They created a secret base and automated systems, learning about supply and demand in the game's market. This experience rekindled the author's joy in Minecraft and strengthened their bond with their son.

Minecraft version 1.21.11, titled Mounts of Mayhem, introduces a new weapon: the spear. The spear features a standard jab and a charged attack, inflicting half the damage of an axe but allowing players to engage enemies from a mount. To craft a spear, players need two sticks and a mineral (diamond or iron) arranged in the crafting grid. The spear is compatible with mounts like horses, camels, and the new Nautilus, enabling mounted attacks. Various mobs can spawn wielding a spear, including Zombies, Husks, Zombie horsemen, Camel husk jockeys (with iron spears), Piglins, and Zombified piglins (with golden spears). Players can also use the spear while flying with Elytra wings.

Diamond ore blocks can be found between Y=16 and Y=-64, with the optimal mining level being Y=-59. The ideal range for maximizing diamond yield is between Y=-53 and Y=-59. Rarer diamond ore variants can be found between Y=0 and Y=8. Effective methods for obtaining diamonds include cave exploration and strip/branch mining, with a focus on enclosed caves and mining tunnels at Y=-53. Essential items for diamond hunting include an iron pickaxe, enchantments (Fortune 3, Unbreaking, Efficiency), shield and armor, water bucket, food, torches, and night vision potions. Mining should cease at levels Y=-50 and above or below Y=-64 to avoid diminished diamond ore generation.

The Mounts of Mayhem update for Minecraft will introduce a new spear weapon featuring the Lunge enchantment. Players can obtain the Lunge enchantment through an enchanting table or enchanted books. To use the enchanting table, players need to place the spear and Lapis Lazuli in the respective cells and select the Lunge enchantment if available. Enchanted books can be acquired through fishing or trading with Librarian villagers, with better chances when using a fishing rod enchanted with Luck of the Sea. The Lunge enchantment allows each Jab attack to propel players forward horizontally but reduces hunger and saturation. The distance propelled is (0.458 x Lunge level) blocks per tick, with hunger loss increasing from 1.5 points at Level 1 to 2.5 points at Level 3. The spear's dash attack does not activate while riding a mount, flying with an Elytra, or underwater.
