Microsoft attributed a recent global outage affecting various digital infrastructures to a "CrowdStrike update," which disrupted multiple applications including OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook, PowerBI, Microsoft Teams, and others. Users experienced issues such as synchronization failures and access difficulties. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in supply chains that organizations rely on for managing sensitive data, which can be targeted by cyber threats. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is a feature within Microsoft Purview designed to protect sensitive information from unauthorized disclosure. DLP policies can monitor user activity and take protective actions like alerting users about inappropriate sharing, blocking sharing attempts, or relocating data to secure locations. DLP can be applied across various platforms, including Office 365 applications and Windows endpoints. The DLP lifecycle includes planning and deployment phases, where organizations assess data to be monitored and ensure policies do not disrupt workflows. Monitoring and reporting tools provide insights into policy matches and incidents, helping organizations refine their DLP efforts. However, DLP has limitations, including false positives, user resistance, and challenges in detecting data leakages through new communication channels.

Microsoft has released a patch, KB5060842, on June 10, 2025, to address a vulnerability in Windows Server 2025 that affected Active Directory Domain Controllers' ability to manage network traffic after system restarts. This issue stemmed from the improper initialization of domain firewall profiles during startup, leading to service interruptions and authentication failures. The patch corrects the initialization sequence of these profiles, ensuring proper network traffic management post-restart. Organizations using Windows Server 2025 are advised to implement this update to maintain the reliability of their Active Directory services.

NatWest is experiencing issues with its mobile banking app, leading to over 3,000 outages reported around 10 am on a Friday. Customers have expressed frustration on social media due to their inability to send or receive money, pay bills, or transfer funds. The bank has stated that the problem is related to an update made to the app. Recent scrutiny has arisen for high street banks due to a series of outages, particularly at the end of the month when many receive paychecks. Data from the Treasury Committee revealed that nine of the UK’s largest banks and building societies faced over 33 days of unplanned outages in the past two years. NatWest reported 13 "material" incidents between 2023 and 2025, resulting in nearly £350,000 in compensation paid to affected customers. Barclays also indicated it could allocate up to £12.5 million in compensation for affected customers during the same period. Common reasons for these outages include issues with third-party suppliers, system changes, and internal software malfunctions.

As of 11:00 PM on April 15, 2025, Rutracker has resumed operations after a significant outage that began around 5:00 PM Moscow time the same day. Users from major Russian cities reported difficulties accessing the site, which has been permanently blocked in Russia since 2016. During the outage, users encountered a "Web Server Down" message due to a 521 error from Cloudflare, indicating a connection termination. The access issues appeared to affect only Russian users, as individuals in Italy and Kazakhstan could still access Rutracker. This incident marks the third occurrence in six months raising concerns about the future of popular web resources among Russians. Rutracker had previously announced its own anti-Russian sanctions in March 2022 but continued to be accessible to Russian users until this outage. In January 2023, Rutracker experienced another outage lasting nearly a full day. The recent issues have been attributed to hosting problems, although some users reported no access issues during that time.

Microsoft's cumulative update for Windows 11, patch KB5051987, has caused significant issues for users of the 24H2 version. Problems include File Explorer failing to open essential folders like Documents and Pictures, difficulties accessing File Explorer through search or shortcuts, and widespread installation failures. Users report the update process stalling, prolonged installation times, critical system errors, and instances of Blue Screens of Death, which can render Windows 11 inoperable. The issues persist even in clean installations of Windows 11, and there are currently no widely recognized workarounds, though disabling Windows Sandbox has been suggested for Pro edition users. Reports of installation failures and system crashes continue, leading to caution among users regarding the update.
