All school group chats in Moscow to move to Russia’s domestic messaging app on September 1

All school and parents’ group chats in Moscow will be required to transition to the Max messaging platform starting September 1, as mandated by a federal law passed in June. Max is designated as Russia's official "national messenger" and is developed by VK.

Kazakhstan Rolls Out Domestic Messenger to Replace Foreign Apps in State Institutions

Kazakhstan has announced the implementation of the Aitu national messenger across all government agencies, quasi-public organizations, and the Armed Forces, which will begin on September 15. This decision was made during a meeting led by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on August 18, in alignment with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive for secure official communications. The Ministry of Defense will adopt the messenger in phases, with full implementation expected by the end of the year. Additionally, new regulations for data management in artificial intelligence have been approved, and a plan to integrate government information systems into the Smart Data Ukimet platform is to be completed by December 1.

Denmark is switching to Linux

Denmark's Ministry of Digital Affairs has decided to transition from Microsoft Office to the open-source alternative, LibreOffice, aiming to enhance the nation's digital sovereignty. The Ministry plans to migrate approximately half of its operations away from Microsoft Office this summer. While there were initial reports of a complete departure from the Windows operating system, it has been clarified that Windows will remain in use for the time being.
