‘Minecraft’ pop-up event coming to Alton Towers this summer

Merlin Entertainments is enhancing its partnership with Minecraft by launching the 'Minecraft Meet the Mobs' pop-up experience at Alton Towers from July 18 to August 28. This event allows guests to interact with baby mobs in six Minecraft-themed scenes and includes activities like a mob trail for exclusive in-game rewards. Guests can also take photos with characters such as Iron Golem and Creeper, and enjoy themed snacks and merchandise. The experience is included with standard park admission. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with over 350 million copies sold, and is set to become the first-ever theme park land at Chessington World of Adventures in a £50 million project opening in 2027. Merlin's collaboration with Mojang Studios was announced in 2024, with plans to invest over £85 million in new attractions in the UK and US.

Minecraft 26.2 Release Candidate 1

Today, the first release candidate for version 26.2 of Minecraft: Java Edition has been dispatched, along with the Chaos Cubed game drop. A bug fix in this release candidate resolved an issue where pressing the "Friends Screen" key bind did not display the friends list. The release candidates are available through the Minecraft Launcher, and users are advised to back up their data as testing versions may corrupt worlds. Minecraft Dungeons 2 Adds Jump Attacks and New Equipment Slots Alongside An Interconnected World

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is set six years after the first installment and introduces new enemies, including the Twisted Warden. The game features an interconnected world for exploration, jump attacks for dynamic combat, and enhanced character customization with four armor slots, three Talisman slots, and three Artifact slots. One Talisman allows players to summon a dog companion that acts as a pseudo-tank but requires time to respawn. New GreatXML Exploit Bypasses Windows BitLocker via Recovery Partition XML Files

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse has released a Windows BitLocker bypass tool named GreatXML, following a previously disclosed exploit targeting Microsoft Defender. The discovery was made accidentally and took four hours. A critical vulnerability exists for users who have used the Windows Defender Offline Scan feature, making them susceptible to the BitLocker bypass. The exploit involves copying an XML file and a recovery folder to the recovery partition and rebooting into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). If the Defender offline scan was not initiated, users must log in to start it or find a way to boot into WinRE in offline scan state. GreatXML is the second BitLocker bypass tool released by Chaotic Eclipse, following the earlier exploit known as YellowKey (CVE-2026-45585), which has been patched by Microsoft.

Nightmare Eclipse drops claimed BitLocker bypass for Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Patches Record 206 Flaws, Including Three Zero-Days and Critical RCE Bugs

Notable critical flaws include CVE-2026-45657 (use-after-free in Windows Kernel, CVSS score 9.8), CVE-2026-47291 (integer overflow in Windows HTTP.sys, CVSS score 9.8), and CVE-2026-44815 (stack-based buffer overflow in Windows DHCP Client, CVSS score 9.8). Microsoft also addressed vulnerabilities related to BitLocker bypass (CVE-2026-45585 and CVE-2026-50507) and introduced a new registry setting to mitigate risks associated with CVE-2026-49160 (denial-of-service vulnerability). The increase in patches is attributed to the use of artificial intelligence in vulnerability discovery, with the current year's reported vulnerabilities surpassing the total from all of 2018.

France’s Government Messaging App Tchap Got Breached

On June 7, 2026, Tchap, the French government's encrypted messaging platform for civil servants, experienced a significant breach detected by ANSSI. The breach resulted from a compromised user account and involved the education shard of Tchap, specifically targeting matrix.agent.education.tchap.gouv.fr. Approximately 650,000 messages, data from over 73,000 accounts, and about 13.5GB of documents and media files were allegedly scraped. The attacker also claimed to have discovered hardcoded LDAP credentials leaked through a PowerShell script shared by a regional director of the French tax authority. DINUM, the French Digital Affairs Directorate, stated that private conversations on Tchap are end-to-end encrypted and that the compromised account has been blocked. They notified CNIL about the potential exposure of personal data and reminded users to avoid sharing sensitive information in public chat rooms. The breach follows a mandate from Prime Minister François Bayrou in August 2025 requiring all civil servants to use Tchap, increasing its attractiveness as a target for cyber threats. The investigation into the breach is ongoing.
