Modder Relysia has introduced an over-the-shoulder third-person camera for Baldur's Gate 3, which has been well-received for its effective execution. The mod, uploaded to Nexus Mods last week, allows for immersive exploration of the Undercity Ruins, although some animations may appear jittery. It complements the popular WASD character movement mod and offers customizable settings such as field of view, camera offset, height, and horizontal tracking speed. Pixel Party Free Add On

Two friends visited an arcade filled with games and competed for leaderboard positions, winning prizes such as cosmetic items and food. They announced the release of the free Chaos Cubed: Pixel Party add-on by Hogskull Labs, which includes a quest to find the Arcade Cave containing five unique arcade machines. Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 5

The fifth snapshot of version 26.3 has been released, featuring updates to the Data Pack version (112.0) and Resource Pack version (93.0). Modifications to world generation include the removal of the fields extrararegrowths and catalystchance from minecraft:sculkpatch. Resource Pack updates involve shader changes, including renaming a define and changes in shader compilation processes. Several bugs have been fixed, including issues with server address updates, incorrect command contexts, and various rendering problems. Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition, with a recommendation to back up data before testing.

Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 4 is a big update hiding under the hood

Minecraft's Snapshot 26.3 update transitions the Java Edition from GLFW to SDL3, improving window management, input handling, and platform support. It uses SDL scancodes for key positions and SDL keycodes for text shortcuts, enhancing control responsiveness. The Raw Input mouse option has been removed, and players can switch between Borderless and Exclusive Fullscreen modes without restarting the game. However, Exclusive fullscreen mode may cause crashes on Windows and is not supported on macOS. Players in Spectator mode can now interact with Nether portals, End portals, and End gateways. The debug overlay has been improved, and the creative inventory has been reorganized. Armadillos will no longer roll up while submerged. New item components for cooking and brewing fuels have been introduced, allowing data pack creators to define parameters like burn duration and cooking speed. Sign behavior has been adjusted to prevent click events by default. There are extensive format changes to world generation, loot tables, predicates, number providers, and advancement triggers, updated to Data Pack version 111.0 and Resource Pack version 92.0. Snapshot 4 addresses various bugs, but players are advised to back up their worlds before using the snapshot to avoid potential damage to saved games.

The designer of cult classic King of Dragon Pass says his upcoming hellish heist game is pushing the boundaries of a concept he invented in 1999: ‘There’s really nothing else quite like it’

In 1999, designer David Dunham and his studio A Sharp released King of Dragon Pass, which combines mythic fantasy RPG and cattle management simulation. Although it initially faced commercial disappointment, it gained a dedicated following for its narrative experience. Later in 2023, Dunham and A Sharp will launch Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists, described as a "systemic storybook experience" by its publisher, Kitfox Games. Dunham calls it a "tactical narrative game," emphasizing its unconventional classification. The game features gameplay elements where players use traits of party members in conflict resolution, set in a fantastical representation of Byzantium. It introduces conditional, rearrangeable storytelling elements, which Dunham claims to have pioneered in the '90s, although he acknowledges that King of Chicago may have predated him. Thousand Hells offers a unique experience in each playthrough and can be completed in one to two hours, contrasting with the longer narratives of its predecessors.

Steam Machine compatibility checks are here, though not every game on the store enjoys a rating

Steam users can now check a game's compatibility with Steam Machine and SteamOS directly from the store page. This feature was introduced after the Steam Machine's June release. Players can click 'learn more' next to the Steam Deck compatibility rating for an overview of compatibility across Valve's hardware and software. The game Black Myth: Wukong has an 'unknown' compatibility status with the Steam Machine, while it runs successfully on SteamOS. Valve is investigating compatibility for titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Elden Ring Nightreign. Some games, like 007: First Light, can achieve a 'Verified' rating on the Steam Machine. Currently, the Steam store does not allow filtering by Steam Machine or SteamOS compatibility, but this feature is expected soon.
