JDM: Japanese Drift Master review

Japanese Drift Master (JDM) is an open-world racing game set to be released on May 21, 2025, priced at in the U.S. and £29 in the U.K. Developed and published by Gaming Factory, it combines drifting mechanics with life simulation elements and explores Japanese drift culture through a narrative involving an outsider, a failing sushi delivery business, and an unsolved murder, presented in anime comic panels. A 29-year-old PC racing game going cyberpunk anime with Troy Baker, Initial D drifting, and cutscenes from the Metroid: Other M studio sure wasn’t on my Game Awards bingo card

The 1995 PC racing game Screamer is being revived, with a teaser trailer recently unveiled at The Game Awards 2024. The original game was known for its arcade racing experience and was one of the first titles requiring a Pentium processor. The modern version will feature a sci-fi narrative exploring themes of human will, revenge, love, and greed, with players participating in a street racing tournament led by a mysterious figure voiced by Troy Baker. Cutscenes are being created by Polygon Pictures, a renowned Japanese animation studio. The game is being developed by Milestone and is set to be released in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Open-world racing game JDM: Japanese Drift Master for PC launches in spring 2025

Developer Gaming Factory will launch the open-world racing game JDM: Japanese Drift Master on PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG in spring 2025. A free demo titled JDM: Rise of the Scorpion was released on August 8, 2023. The game features a vibrant location called Ichikara, inspired by Tokyo, and includes a unique story told through hand-drawn manga pages, over 40 story-driven challenges, and numerous side quests. The open world encompasses over 250 kilometers of roads in the fictional prefecture of Guntama, with a variety of environments to explore. Players can drive fully licensed vehicles from brands like Nissan, Subaru, and Mazda, with authentic engine sounds. The game offers advanced tuning options for vehicles and a variety of racing events, including circuit races, drift challenges, time trials, head-to-head battles, and drag showdowns.
