The pandemic led to a collective fatigue regarding sea shanties, but the author has re-embraced them with the release of the Next Fest demo for the pirate survival game, Windrose, available on Steam. In Windrose, players embark on adventures as shipwrecked pirates, gathering resources, crafting tools, and facing challenges like formidable Dodo birds and undead pirates called Drowned. Players can repair shipwrecks, rescue crew members, and engage in ship-to-ship combat. The demo offers around seven hours of gameplay, with no announced release date yet.

FBI Boston says more extremists targeting kids on platforms including Roblox, Minecraft, Call of Duty

The Boston field office of the FBI has warned parents about the rise of online extremist groups targeting children, linked to an ideology called Nihilistic Violent Extremism. The FBI is investigating around 350 suspects nationwide, often young men aged 25 and under, who engage with children on platforms like Roblox, Minecraft, and Call of Duty, as well as social media like Discord. These suspects manipulate children into producing sexual content, self-harm, or violence. In Massachusetts, Joseph Pacheco, 23, faces federal charges for sending child pornography and animal crush videos to a child and making threats. U.S. Attorney Leah Foley noted the challenges in prosecuting cases involving minors, highlighting the need for parental vigilance.

Players can expect the introduction of the final baby mobs, including visual updates for pandas, hoglins, zoglins, striders, and snifflets. The Stonecutter now allows crafting of Deepslate and stone into various cobbled variants. Adult horses have updated black dot markings, and sound assets for adult variants have been enhanced. A bug related to cat variant sounds has been fixed. Hitboxes for several mobs have been adjusted to fit into smaller spaces. Operators can use Ctrl + Pick input on players and mannequins in Creative Mode. Input Method Editors will now appear above the text field in supported platforms. A new debug screen entry for memory usage has been added, and the initial heap size has been decreased to 2GB to reduce crashes. The Data Pack version is updated to 99.2, and the Resource Pack version is at 81.1. New UI sprites and entity textures for various baby mobs have been introduced. Several bugs have been fixed in the snapshot.

Mounts of Mayhem: Dungeon Descent add-on

The spear has become the preferred tool over the pickaxe, and spear training dummies are introduced for practice. These dummies come in four variations: Skeleton, Drowned, Zombie, and Husk. After practicing, players can participate in The Spear Trials, a randomly generated dungeon that tests spear skills with obstacles and hidden vases containing saddle charms. Mining is not an option in the dungeons. Additionally, "Mounts of Mayhem: Dungeon Descent" is available in the Marketplace, requiring the latest version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
