The author struggled with drumming due to coordination issues and hypermobility but found success after being introduced to an electronic drum kit (ekit) and the rhythm game YARG. They purchased a budget-friendly Donner DED-200 kit, which allowed for a manageable setup and practice experience. YARG connects with the ekit via MIDI, providing a fun way to learn drumming through a variety of songs categorized by difficulty. After two months of consistent practice, an assessment by a drumming instructor revealed that the author's skills had improved significantly, confirming that their practice with YARG had been beneficial. The author continues to practice and feels more confident in their drumming abilities.
