The Panels app developed by Fossor Coding is an alternative to Samsung's Edge Panels, offering features such as custom icon packs, quick search shortcuts, and floating widgets. Users can customize the app by repositioning the trigger point, setting up multiple columns (up to seven), and adding various items to the sidebar, including applications, shortcuts, app pairs, accessibility options, system preferences, websites, floating widgets, folders, contacts, and quick search. The free version allows for three columns and nine rows, while the paid version offers additional capabilities for .50. To customize, users must install the app, grant permissions, and use the View button to set up their panel. A pro tip for efficiency includes keeping a thumb on the screen after swiping in to quickly select and launch apps or shortcuts.

Samsung is set to introduce One UI 7.0, with notable changes including the discontinuation of new Edge Panel downloads from the Galaxy Store after the upgrade. Users will still have access to previously downloaded Edge Panels, which can be found in the "My apps" section of the Galaxy Store. However, if users uninstall these Panels post-upgrade, they will not be able to re-download them. This policy also applies to new devices with One UI 7 or later, allowing access only to previously installed Edge Panels.

Samsung has announced that Edge Panels will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy Store with the rollout of One UI 7. Current users who have previously downloaded Edge Panels can still access them in the “My Apps” section, but if they uninstall them, they cannot re-download. New devices with One UI 7 will not have access to Edge Panels either. Users who have not updated to One UI 7 can still download Edge Panels, but they will not be available for larger screen devices like the Galaxy Fold series. Users can transfer Edge Panels from older devices to new ones running One UI 7 or later by accessing the “My Apps” section. It is unclear if Edge Panels are completely phased out or if installed versions can still be used. Further information is expected with the One UI 7 beta.

Samsung has announced that the Edge Panels Galaxy Store will no longer be supported on devices running One UI 7 or later. Users will still have access to Edge Panels already installed before the update, but they will lose the ability to acquire new ones. Once upgraded to One UI 7, users will not be able to re-download any Edge Panels they uninstall, including paid versions. The Edge Panel feature will still be available in One UI 7.0, but there are speculations about a potential phase-out of Edge Panels. The Edge Panels Galaxy Store will remain operational for devices with One UI 6.1.1 or earlier, but the duration of its continued operation is unspecified.
