Hypixel Studios announced that pre-launch sales of Hytale have generated enough revenue to fund the next two years of the game's development. The early access release is scheduled for January 13. Hytale has been in development since 2015 and was previously halted by Riot Games, which acquired Hypixel in 2020. Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme acquired the game from Riot at the end of last year. He predicts that Hytale will attract one million players on its release day and encourages players to download the game’s launcher in advance. The game will be available for purchase only through the studio’s website during early access. Hytale offers three purchasing options: the standard edition at .99, the Supporter Edition at .99, and the Founder's Edition at .99, with the latter two editions including exclusive cosmetic outfits and capes.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7535 (KB5072046) to the Dev and Beta Channels, focusing on accessibility enhancements and improvements for managing Copilot features. The update introduces Copilot-powered image descriptions via the Narrator feature, allowing users to generate detailed descriptions of images on all Windows 11 devices. This functionality is available on Copilot+ PCs without cloud data transmission and is also extended to non-Copilot+ systems, though it is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area. Additionally, a new Group Policy option titled Remove Microsoft Copilot App allows administrators to uninstall the Copilot app under specific conditions. The build also includes a refresh of the Windows Spotlight desktop icon and various bug fixes addressing issues in the Start menu, File Explorer, printing dialog, Snipping Tool, and Windows Update. Known issues remain, including interaction problems in the Start menu and crashes in Settings. The features in this build are being rolled out gradually and may change before general release.

A glitch in the border control wait-time display at Birmingham Airport showed a security certificate error, leaving passengers unaware of their wait times. The display is running on Windows 7, which reached its end of life in 2020, and the error message resembles outdated technology from Windows Vista. Despite this, a traveler reported a quick passage through border control, taking only ten minutes. The ongoing certificate issue raises concerns about the reliability of the information provided to passengers.

Microsoft will conclude support for Windows 11 SE in 2026, ceasing security updates and feature enhancements after October 2026. Launched in late 2021 for K-8 classrooms, Windows 11 SE struggled with adoption due to hardware limitations and competition from alternatives like Google’s Chrome OS. The final feature release for SE will be Windows 11 version 24H2. Schools will face challenges in transitioning to new systems, as devices running SE may become vulnerable to cyber threats without ongoing support. Microsoft is shifting its focus to integrating educational tools into its main operating system rather than maintaining a separate edition. The end of support for Windows 11 SE may accelerate hardware refresh cycles in schools, posing financial burdens on underfunded districts.

Mojang has released a new DLC for Minecraft based on Stranger Things, allowing players to explore Hawkins and the Upside Down while engaging with key moments from the first four seasons of the series. The DLC is available on the Minecraft Marketplace for modern platforms but is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch due to memory limitations, requiring a minimum of 6GB of RAM. Players can interact with iconic locations and characters, including a blocky version of Murray, and experience the narrative in an open-world format. Those who purchase the DLC before January 25, 2026, will receive a Hellfire Club t-shirt for character customization. The update aligns with the release of Stranger Things’ final season and emphasizes Mojang’s focus on narrative integrity and accessibility across platforms. The DLC encourages exploration and challenges, continuing Mojang’s trend of collaborating with external media franchises.
