Emergency Phone

The save mechanism in 2014's Alien: Isolation requires players to use a wall-mounted Emergency Phone, involving the insertion of a keycard and waiting for three beeps, which exposes them to dangers in the game. Fede Álvarez, director of Alien: Romulus, was inspired by Isolation's ability to evoke fear and aims to incorporate similar themes in his film, which follows young colonists who encounter horrors in a derelict space station, including Emergency Phones that signal impending danger. Despite the game's acclaim, a sequel is unlikely due to Sega's focus on the Total War series, though new Alien-related projects may be in development. Players can save progress without jeopardizing it, even if they die during a save in Isolation.
