Windows 11’s Project Zenith cuts clutter for developers and promises a “distraction-free” experience

Microsoft is launching Project Zenith, which optimizes Windows 11 for developers by preinstalling essential applications and configuring settings tailored for coding. Key features include File Explorer displaying file extensions, hidden files, and the complete path in the title bar. Developer-class devices will run models with over 30 billion parameters locally and will come with tools like Windows Terminal and Visual Studio Code pinned to the Taskbar, along with preinstalled applications such as GitHub Copilot and PowerToys. To qualify as a developer-class device, a system must have a minimum of 64 GB of unified memory and at least 250 GB/s memory bandwidth. Initially, these enhancements will be available on AMD's Ryzen AI Halo devices, with plans for broader availability. All Windows 11 devices will benefit from overall improvements, including reduced memory usage and enhanced functionality in Search and File Explorer.

Android Can Now Share Space With the Original Software on the reMarkable Paper Pro

Chalid Raqami has integrated Android 13 into the reMarkable Paper Pro, allowing users to run a full Android system alongside the original Linux-based software. Users can switch between the note-taking interface and Android in about 20 seconds by double-tapping the power button. The device features 2GB of RAM and a 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core processor. Pixel 11 can search your whole Google account right from the app drawer

The Pixel 11 series introduces a feature called Pixel search, enhancing the app drawer search bar to retrieve not only apps but also photos, files in Google Drive, calendar entries, and more. This feature is preinstalled on the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro and was hinted at during the Android 17 beta phase. Pixel search has also appeared on Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra. It integrates within the launcher, allowing access to various Google services through the app drawer search bar. Pixel search can surface files, images, calendar entries, text messages, contacts, specific emails, upcoming alarms, and troubleshooting guidance. It is currently exclusive to the Pixel 11 series and select Samsung devices, with no information on availability for older Pixel models.

Microsoft is removing a legacy Windows feature that has been around for 25 years

WMIC, a utility for IT administrators introduced in Windows XP in 2001, will be removed from Windows 11 after August 2026. It has been deprecated since 2016 and was previously removed from Windows 10 in 2021. Although it remained available as a Feature on Demand, it was disabled by default in new installations. Recent Preview builds for Windows 11 confirmed that WMIC will not be included in version 26H2. PowerShell is suggested as a prominent replacement for WMIC tasks.

After Samsung Health, the Wearable app could be getting its biggest redesign yet
