Microsoft has phased out the Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) utility with the March 2026 Security Update for Windows 11, replacing it with the new "Get Help" command-line tool. The SaRA was designed to troubleshoot and resolve common issues affecting Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications. Users are now encouraged to use the Get Help command-line tool, which offers enhanced functionality and security. To use the Get Help tool, users must download the files, extract them, and run specific commands in the Command Prompt. The tool addresses various issues, including Microsoft 365 activation challenges and Outlook profile errors.

Rita El Khoury is transitioning from Google Drive to Proton Drive due to privacy concerns. A poll indicated that 62% of respondents would consider moving away from Google Drive for security reasons. El Khoury values Proton Drive's end-to-end encryption, which ensures only users can access their files, unlike Google Drive, which lacks this feature. She appreciates Proton Drive's unified interface and minimalist design in Proton Docs, but notes its limitations, such as fewer convenience features and only 5GB of free storage compared to Google Drive's 15GB. The choice between the two services depends on individual priorities regarding privacy and features.

Microsoft is rolling out a new feature for the Copilot app on Windows 11 that integrates web browsing directly within the app, allowing users to open links in a side pane next to their conversation. This update ensures that Microsoft Edge is the default browser for these interactions and requests permission to access content from any web tabs opened during a conversation. Tabs opened will be saved for future reference, and users can sync passwords and form data. The update also includes new features from Copilot.com, such as Podcasts and Study and Learn mode, while some features have been temporarily removed but will be reinstated before the general release. Performance and reliability improvements are also included in Copilot app version 146.0.3856.39.

Microsoft offers two alternatives to the built-in Windows 11 search feature: PowerToys Run and Command Palette. PowerToys Run is a versatile launcher that allows users to search for files, settings, websites, and execute terminal commands. Command Palette functions similarly to PowerToys Run and macOS Spotlight, enabling users to search their PC, run commands, and open webpages. A recent update on GitHub introduced a lightning-fast mode for these tools, which reduces visual distractions during result list updates, selects the first interactable result promptly, removes selection indicator animations, and adds a "Results" section header for consistent visuals. The latest version of PowerToys also includes a new utility called "CursorWrap," which allows the mouse cursor to wrap around the screen edges, with options for horizontal or vertical use.

Nothing’s Essential App Builder allows users to create personalized applications without extensive coding experience. The platform enables users to articulate app ideas and facilitates their creation through a series of edits. One user successfully created a tea timer app that tracks steeping times and provides boiling temperatures for different teas, despite facing minor design issues during development. The Essential App community showcases diverse creativity, with applications ranging from practical tools to whimsical creations. Currently, Essential Apps are exclusive to the Nothing Phone 3, with plans for future expansion to other models and enhanced functionality.

Microsoft is enhancing Windows 11's cross-device capabilities, allowing users to transition Android app activities to their PCs. This feature enables users to resume activities like music playback, document editing, and web browsing directly on their Windows computer. Initially limited to OneDrive activities, the functionality now includes resuming Spotify playback, editing Microsoft Office documents, and restoring browsing sessions from mobile devices using Microsoft Edge. This feature has been in testing since August and is included in the latest Windows 11 Release Preview update. The approach is similar to Apple's Handoff feature. The update also includes expanded support for MIDI 2.0, improvements to voice typing, enhanced fingerprint sensor compatibility for Windows Hello, and broader language support for the new Settings Agent.
